Taste of Nova Scotia Culinary Classes

Nova Scotia is known internationally for fresh seafood. Throw in vegetables and fruit from our unique ocean-inspired terrior and it’s easy to prove that we are a special culinary destination. Taste Nova Scotia by signing up for one of our unique cooking classes – for kids or adults – at Saltscapes Expo.

How do you fillet a trout? Have you ever made home-made pasta or deboned a chicken?

In these classes you will work with a local chef to learn how to make each of the items on your menu, through hands-on learning and demonstrations.  You will learn about local ingredients – where to find them and why supporting local farmers is vital to healthy communities and healthy families.

But most importantly, you’ll taste the creations you make using fresh, local Nova Scotia ingredients and bring the recipes home with you to add to your repertoire.

7 sessions (from April 22 to 24, 2016) with Taste of Nova Scotia chefs:

Friday, April 22 
All about Rainbow Trout: Chef Shane Robilliard, Fox Harb’r Resort (2 sessions – 3:00 p.m. & 6:00 p.m.)

Saturday, April 23: Chef Chris Velden,
 Flying Apron Inn & Cookery
Kids’ Comfort Food (9:30 a.m. – for children 8-12)
Chicken 101 (12:00 p.m.)
Healthy Cooking Made Easy (2:30 p.m.)

Sunday, April 24
A Taste of Lokal: Seafood & Vegetables – Chef Alexandre Gauthier, Lokal Resto & Food Market (12:30 & 3:00)

Cost: $20 (child), $35 (adult) +tax
Hosted by: Taste of Nova Scotia chefs
Includes: All classes include a Taste of Nova Scotia apron, one entry to Saltscapes Expo, you eat what you make in the session and some sessions have take-home items (please see session description for complete description, each class varies).
