Montavista Mulled Wine

Mulled wine has been a holiday favourite for a long time. This recipe, with a Nova Scotia twist, is the perfect drink to welcome your guests in from the cold. It also makes your house smell like Christmas!

Ingredients

Serves 6

1 bottle Avondale Sky Montavista (red wine​)*
1 orange, juiced
1 lemon, juiced
1/2 cup (125 ml) brown sugar
8 whole cloves
2 cinnamon sticks
2 star anise pods
1 tbsp (5 ml) vanilla

*This mulled wine can be made and then reheated for up to one week

Directions

  1. Combine all the ingredients in a large saucepan
  2. Bring to boil and simmer for 5 minutes
  3. Pour through a strainer in to punch cups. Or, mix in a pre heated slow cooker, allowing 20 minutes to heat through.
  4. Let guests serve themselves.
