Seared Halibut w/ Mushroom & Miso

This simple and delicious halibut recipe was originally featured on CTV Morning Live on January 30, 2014. It takes a an amazing seafood product found off the shores of Nova Scotia and gives it a bit of an Asian twist. Both mushroom powder and miso paste can be found at your local Asian grocer.

Ingredients

Halibut Fillet 6 oz
Mushroom powder 20g
Miso Paste teaspoon
1 scallion
soy 1 Tbsp
fresh ginger zest 1/2 tsp
3 Tbsp brown sugar
1 tsp lemon juice
1 tsp water

Directions

  1. For miso soy glaze add all ingredients in a food processor and puree.
  2. Have pan hot with oil.
  3. Season piece of halibut and then place top side down in mushroom dust to coat lightly.
    Place halibut dust side down in hot frying pan with oil in it and sear till nice and brown
    Flip over and sear bottom till golden brown.
  4. Brush with Miso soy glaze and finish in 350 degree oven for 5 minute or until done.
