Chef Renée Lavallée embodies what it is to be a culinary ambassador. Everything she does is influenced by the community around her — Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. From weekly trips to the Alderney Farmers Market with her family to grabbing a drink across the street at Lake City Cider, you’ll always find her supporting local. That passion for local means its always on the menu at her restaurant, The Canteen.

Chef Renée also worked closely with the late Gary MacDonald at The Five Fishermen Restaurant. It seems fitting that our 2018 Gary MacDonald Culinary Ambassador is someone who considered him to be not only her mentor, but her friend.

    Amazing , brought me to tears , I sooo want to go to her restaurant , I have been following Renee forever , she is
    amazing , I have to get to the Canteen . Congrats to u Renee , for ur achievements !!

    Just tried Renee’s seafood chowder at Saltscapes Expo 2019. Best seafood chowder I have ever tried.
    Is it possible to obtain her receipe?
