Spirited Away – October 14 to 16
Lunenburg will welcome craft spirits enthusiasts once again from October 14- 16, 2016 for the second Nova Scotia Craft Spirits Festival. Enjoy the products of Nova Scotia’s burgeoning Craft Distilling sector – which has grown from three distilleries to more than 12 in the past few years!
What: Save the date – Spirited Away Craft Spirits Festival is back again! Join talented mixologists and world-class chefs for an enchanting weekend filled with dining, sampling, learning, and tons of fun. From unique workshops, to dining events and cocktail competitions, join us in celebrating the growth of craft distilling in Lunenburg this October.
Why: This is the only festival celebrating craft spirits in Nova Scotia! Also, there is a workshop called “Books and Booze”. Need we say more?

Events
October 14: The first evening features the Sip & Dash Cocktail competition. World Class Mixologists are located in 5 venues in Old Town Lunenburg, and the participants move between locations tasting signature cocktails and voting on their favourite.
October 15: A number of unique workshops that combine tastings of Nova Scotia Craft Spirits with fun, interactive creative events, including:
- Bottle Fishing: Rum Running History and Rum cocktails held on board the Theresa E. Connor schooner.
- Books & Booze: A spirited romp in the world of words with booze as our muse. Edification with libations. Sample the cocktails while listening to readings from the books they feature in.
- Whiskey Tumblers: decorate a pair of whiskey tumblers while learning about Nova Scotia whiskey at the Lunenburg School of the Arts. The tumblers then get fired so you can take them home.
- DIY Gin: Create your own very personal bottle of Gin with a Nova Scotia distiller, and learn about the subtle art behind this classic spirit.
- Bitter & Shaken: Hosted by two top notch mixologists, we present a lively intro to the world of Cocktail Bitters including history, compounding and a lesson in how to shake your cocktail.
October 15: Saturday evening will be our Nova Scotia Craft Spirits Gala. This year the event will be held in the newly-renovated Lunenburg Opera House, a spectacular & historic venue. Our 10 Nova Scotia Craft distilleries will be set up for tastings and our 5 Mixologists will be on hand to show off a dizzying array of cocktails created from Nova Scotia Craft Spirits.
A number of Lunenburg’s well know restaurants are featuring ‘Spirited Dining’ specials for the Festival with specially prepared menus integrating Nova Scotia Craft Spirits. Late night music and sipping events and a windup Breakfast round out the Festival.
