April 17: It’s a CÉILÍ! With Rankin MacInnis!

April 17 marks one month since Saint Patrick’s Day and Obladee is marking the occasion with an Irish Céilí! Rankin MacInnis leads another beast of a session with Glenn Coolen on Uileann pipes and whistles, Jeremy Finney on fiddle, Decota McNamara on guitar, and Mark Currie on bodhran and didgeridoo. Come for the céilí, stay for the craic!

Now to April 18: Easter Special Take Home Meals

Don’t feel like cooking an Easter dinner? Scanway Bakery & Café has got you covered with Easter special take home meals. From a mustard and maple glazed ham to cream cheese carrot cake, this meal will certainly not disappoint. Meals will be packaged in oven-friendly aluminum containers with heating directions included. Orders must be placed by April 18th at 12pm.

April 18: Jazz Nights at Compass Distillers

On Thursday evenings, Compass Distillers hosts live jazz featuring some of Halifax’s best local players. Come and enjoy some great music this week by Glenn Fraser and Joyce Saunders, as well as handcrafted spirits and cocktails. No cover!

April 19 & 20: 6th Annual Easter Egg Hunt Wine Tours

Who said Easter egg hunts are just for kids? Visit Gaspereau VineyardsLightfoot & Wolfville Vineyards and Mercator Vineyards for their take on an Easter egg hunt and wine tour. At each winery, you’ll search for hidden Easter eggs for a chance to win a bottle of wine. Find the most eggs through the whole tour and win another bottle of wine!

April 19 – 21: Family Fun Easter Weekend

It’s an egg-citing weekend for the entire family! Join Oak Island Resort for the weekend and be delighted by Easter themed arts and crafts, a full recreation schedule and plenty of pool time for the whole family, as well as The Great Sunday Easter Egg Hunt.

Korean Favourites Package (April 26): This new Flying Apron Cookery class features three popular Korean dishes that will bring heat and flavor to your home cooking. Share a full meal with your classmates during the demo and take home the recipes for the dishes made. After your class, retire to your beautiful inn room for the night. A hot, fresh breakfast is included!

Chef Michael Smith Weekend (May 3 -5): Chef Michael Smith is recognized worldwide for doing things authentically, showcasing local, seasonal bounty, and being mindful of both the planet and what we put on our plates. This foodies’ dream weekend at Fox Harb’r will highlight artisanal, early season and foraged ingredients while enriching the sense of connection to what we eat.

Kitchen Party with the Dearlies (May 4): Avondale Sky Winery welcomes the Dearlies for a matinée show accompanied by great food and award-winning wines. Enjoy the tunes of the Berwick band while feasting on a levee style snack spread. Ticket price includes admission and food. A selection of wines, beer and non-alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase.

Full House – Craft Beer Fest (May 4): This event will have two sessions, each showcasing beers from around the province. You won’t find more Nova Scotia craft breweries under one roof anywhere else! This year’s theme is “What’s New” with many of the breweries will be featuring new products.

Italian Chef Night (May 10): Treat someone special to an evening out at Sugar Moon Farm. Join Chef Craig Flinn of Chives Canadian Bistro & 2DoorsDown for a maple-inspired dinner with Nova Scotia wines and live music… all in a sugar camp setting.

Barometer Rising (May 19): This dinner spotlights Colin McIver of Dilly Dally Eats. He has been working in kitchens for years and since graduating has spent multiple years at Michelin Star restaurants. Colin is leaving Nova Scotia to work in Melbourne this fall, so The Watch That Ends The Night is very eager to showcase his skill and understanding of local ingredients this May.
