The 39th Annual Digby Scallop Days may be the tastiest thing happening this week. Where else can you watch competitions in categories like Scallop Shucking, Scallop Skipping and Scallop Net Knitting?

August 8 & 9:

Hit the Halifax Seaport BeerFest for the 8th annual “Beer on the Pier” Friday August 8 & Saturday August 9. Atlantic Canada’s largest annual celebration of craft beer and cider features producers from around the world. Look for local favourites like Garrison Brewing Co.Rare Bird Craft Beer and Bulwark Cider.

August 10:

Join the Rose & Kettle Tearoom at the Cole Harbour Heritage Farm Museum  for the perfect afternoon Garden Party August 10 from 2 pm to 4 pm. Go for the one hour concert by Walt Music and stay for an elegant afternoon tea in the garden; dainty sandwiches, sweets, tea and lemonade. Tickets are available through the museum.

Avondale Sky Winery presents Avondale’s Bite of Nova Scotia.  Sample some of the best offerings from local restaurants while you listen to live music and browse wonderful art from across the Maritimes.  Enjoy samples of the wines of several neighboring wineries and local craft brewers. Event runs from  10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
