As November comes to a quick halt the Nova Scotia holiday cheer starts to kick in! From educational fundraisers to cooking classes and complimentary treats, here’s what’s cooking in Nova Scotia this week:

December 1
NEW: Weekend Brunches at Scanway Catering. Stop by with friends between 10:00 a.m. -4:00 p.m. on Saturday or Sunday and toast to a new month over great local food.

It”s Shop Local Week in Shelburne. Shop at participating businesses including Boxing Rock Brewing Company and Charolotte Lane and be entered for a chance to win the grand prize valued at $500.

Visit Barrington Passage – the lobster capital of Canada – to take in the festival of lights and try one of Tony’s delicious lobster dishes at The Lobster Shack. Events include the lighting of a giant Lobster Trap Christmas tree, fireworks, craft fairs and much more.

Take the stress out of holiday entertaining with this hands-on class with chef Chris Velden at The Flying Apron Inn & Cookery at 6:30 p.m.. Learn how to make Smoked Salmon Cheese Balls with lemon dill cream, Maple Chili Roasted Vegetables and more. Make any class a getaway by booking a room in the Inn. Cookery School participants receive a special room rate.

December 25, 2015: There’s a new Christmas tradition at Lane’s Privateer Inn. They will be offering a Christmas Eve brunch and Shopping Party for last minute gifts, Christmas Eve chowder supper 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. and Ron’s Famous EggNog to be enjoyed around the fire. Stay the night and receive a Christmas hamper filled with Nova Scotia wine, cheese, treats. December 31, 2015:
