What’s Cooking in Nova Scotia March 3 to 17

Check out the culinary events taking place in Nova Scotia from March 3 to 17.  In addition to our regular What’s Cooking? (below) we’ve got you covered for St. Paddy’s Day and March Break ideas too! 

March 3: Whisky Tuesday at The Press Gang from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

March 5: Savour Food & Wine Show. The Savour Food & Wine Show showcases some of Nova Scotia’s fine restaurants, wines and beverages – all under one roof!

March 5: Garrison Home Brew-Off Gala & Awards Ceremony. See who will be crowned winner of this year’s Home Brew-Off! More information can be found here.

March 5: The Flying Apron Cookery is hosting a six-week Skill Building Course beginning March 5 and running each Thursday night until April 9. Start with knife skills and learn kitchen basics, stocks and sauces, vegetarian & grains, poultry basic, beef & pork and of course finishing with desserts!

March 7: “Wine & Food Pairing” Educational Seminar at Planters Ridge. Pairing wine with food leaves many mystified. Learn how different foods change the flavour of wine, and develop the confidence to choose wine like a pro.

March 7: Atlantica Hotel Culinary 101 – Flavours of the Mediterranean. Make your own pesto, stuffed grape leaves, Moroccan lamb (with a study of spices) and Spanish paella!

March 7: Winemaker vs. Brewmaster. This event is a unique local taste-off between Luckett Vineyards & Garrison Brewing Company! Pete Luckett and Daniel Girard will each receive a 5 course menu in advance, with the mission to put their best pairing forward for each course and present them to the guests! March 13-15: CAA Winterfest at White Point. Guests will be treated to many flavours of Taste of Nova Scotia – from the beachside Mussel Bake featuring Nova Scotia Mussels to the s’mores made with housemade Acadian Maple Syrup infused marshmallows.

March 14 and 15: The Flying Apron Inn & Cookery Couples Package (One night accommodation, hands-on cooking class and maple brunch buffet.) “Seafood Celebration” is the theme – so prepare to make mussels, arctic char, polenta, salad and a French lemon tart.

March 14: “Wine 101” Educational Seminar at Planters Ridge. Learn how to navigate a wine list, taste with confidence, and even how to properly open and serve wine to your guests.

March 16: Atlantica Hotel March Break Junior Chef Package. Your junior chefs will learn to cook some kid favourites with executive chef Luis Clavel – like Tomato Soup with custom mini grilled cheese sandwiches, “Supreme” meatballs & noodles AND a signature Ultimate brownie cookie bar. Classes available Monday to Friday during March break. The Month of March: Acadian Maple inspired menu at White Point’s Elliot’s Dining Room. The Dinner Menu, which changes each month with a new Taste of Nova Scotia inspired dish, will showcase our housemade Acadian Maple Crème Brulee. It certainly compliments the Pan Seared Pork Tenderloin made with Acadian Maple butter!

Every weekend until April 18/19:
 The All You Can Eat Maple Brunch from Acadian Maple Products is a great reason to get out of the house this winter. The menu includes Meadowbrook maple bacon, pancakes, maple baked beans, wild blueberry syrup, and much more!
