What’s Cooking June 6 to 13, 2017?

It’s rhubarb season! Fortunately for us, rhubarb is easy to find in Nova Scotia and pops up on menus everywhere at this time of year. If you’re addicted – the Ravenous for Rhubarb Festival is a must-try this weekend. It’s a festival dedicated to transforming that delicious tart rhubarb into tangy jams, tasty sweets and vibrant pink cocktails.

June 5-10:  World Ocean’s Week at White Point

June 9: North by Night Market

The North by Night Market is having a kick off to summer in celebration of the local community. Dj dance parties, amazing food and local artisans, what’s not to love? Fuel up before dancing the night away by having a bite at a local restaurant in the area like Agricola Street Brasserie.

June 8-10: Halifax Greek Fest

For three decades Halifax Greek Fest has been providing us those Mediterranean flavours through atmosphere, dance and of course food. With recipes passed down through many generations experience Greece right here in Halifax. Don’t want the evening to end? June 9-11: Rhubarb Festival

Ravenous for Rhubarb Festival is celebrating it’s 10th year, with rhubarb jam to rhubarb pie bake-offs, friendly competition is good right? Make a stop at Coldstream Clear Distillery, they’re serving rhubarb cocktails all weekend long. June 2:  Food Truck Party

Have you decided on your signature summer drink? The Coast’s food truck party is offering up some of Nova Scotia’s best craft beer and cider to help you find your favourite. June 16 to 18 – A Taste of Devour – In partnership with Fox Harb’r Resort, enjoy a weekend indulging in the finest local wines, fresh oysters, and the best of film at this international festival!

June 17 – Avondale Sky Winery is having their annual art fair. This year they’ve introduced Ginger Fest, for all ginger enthusiasts. Local art, music, food and cooking demonstrations to explore. Be sure to visit other Taste members nearby such as Meander River Farm & Brewery or The Flying Apron Inn & Cookery while you’re there

June 23 –  Planters Ridge has teamed-up with Meadowbrook Meat Market to host a pig roast and wine sampling for their third anniversary, help them celebrate on their beautiful vineyard.
