What’s Cooking March 25 – April 1?

Spring is here! It is time to wake up because hibernation is over and there is so much to do in Nova Scotia. Show your competitive side at the Halifax Pinball League night, discover the deliciousness of Greek inspired dishes, head on over to Mahone Bay for some burgers, be driven mad for the sweet taste of maple, meet your local farmers, or cheers your mates with a craft beer. March 25: League Night at Propeller

Halifax Pinball League night is back for another season at Propeller Brewing’s arcade! Join them for a fun, friendly, competitive league and enjoy a pint while you’re at it. All skills welcome!

March 28: A Greek Wine Dinner!

Get your Greek on with Obladee! Enjoy a three-course Greek wine dinner featuring the wines of Domaine Kalathas and Greece-inspired flavours from Chef Bryan Steiss. Plus, interactive discussion from sommeliers Heather Rankin and Erin Beazley. Live Mediterranean music will also be featured.

March 28 – April 3: Mahone Bay Burger Week

Mahone Bay couldn’t let Halifax have all of the fun feasting on burger masterpieces! They’ve come up with their own delicious creations. Make sure to stop by Taste of Nova Scotia members including: Rebecca’s Restaurant , Mateus Bistro and The Biscuit Eater. A donation from a portion of the proceeds will be made to the local food bank. Check their websites and social media for details and hours of operation.

March 29 – 31: Maple Madness

Mark your calendars because it’s going to be a sweet time! Jost Vineyards invites you to spend the weekend with them and celebrate the sweet seduction of delicious Nova Scotia maple. Enjoy maple wine samples, special wine deals, maple themed culinary delights, pruning demos and cuttings, and more. The Seagrape Café will be open all weekend.

March 30: Meet Your Farmer Dinner

The Flying Apron’s popular Meet Your Farmer Dinner is a favourite event of the year. An evening where local food is celebrated with a wonderful buffet and lively food conversations. Each of the guest farmers and producers will give a brief talk about their business and speak to a pressing Nova Scotia issue in their sector.

March 30: Antigonish Craft Beer Festival

Antigonish’s first craft beer festival will feature 14 top-notch craft brewers from across Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. Attendees will have a chance to sample products, enjoy live entertainment, and take home a souvenir glass. Don’t miss Taste members: The Townhouse Brewpub, Propeller Brewing , Meander River , Garrison Brewing , Sober Island Brewing , Tatamagouche Brewing Company, Nine Locks Brewing and Wayfarers Ale .

5 Week Introduction to Wine Course (April 2): Unlock your inner wine nerd with Obladee‘s upcoming “Introduction to Wine” course! This 5-week wine & food course runs from April 2nd – April 30th, every Tuesday night from 6pm – 8:30pm. $285 +tax!

Kitchen Door’s Event Studio (April 4): Kitchen Door’s Event Studio is opening with a variety of different classes, such as Demo & Dine and the Food Lab Series.

Dessert Tasting Week at  The Flying Apron (April 4 – 14): Dessert flights will be available with either 3 or 5 selections. They will have a variety of desserts available throughout each day, including gluten free options. The selection will change as more desserts are made. Full sized desserts will be available for purchase.

Bend & Brunch with the Yoga Hen (April 7): Enjoy a one-hour yoga session with Holly Ross of The Yoga Hen Adventures at Avondale Sky Winery, followed by a delicious pre-set brunch prepared by Chef Justin Floyd. One non-alcoholic beverage of your choice is included in the ticket price.
