Producer/Processor Application Process
Producer/Processor applicants must submit an eligibility questionnaire along with payment for the $100 application fee. The eligibility questionnaire will identify minimum required standards for membership with Taste of Nova Scotia. If you do not meet these requirements, please contact Taste of Nova Scotia to discuss how we can assist you in meeting these standards.
Please note the $100 application fee will be applied to the remaining Taste of Nova Scotia membership fees for all successful applicants. If your application for membership is not approved, your application fee will be applied to a second submission at no additional charge.
Evaluation
After submitting your eligibility questionnaire and application fee, you will receive a Product Application Form and will be contacted by the Taste of Nova Scotia Director of Membership Services to schedule a site visit to perform a risk assessment and quality assurance evaluation.
Membership Approval
After the evaluation process is complete, the Taste of Nova Scotia quality standards committee will review the application, product samples and evaluation findings. The committee will then make its recommendation to the Taste of Nova Scotia Board of Directors during a scheduled board meeting. The Taste of Nova Scotia Board of Directors will then vote on final approval for membership.
Successful applicants will be awarded membership with Taste of Nova Scotia and will then be forwarded a comprehensive membership package, including a Taste of Nova Scotia membership plaque and door decal, logotype standards, and an invoice for the remaining membership dues minus the $100 application fee. New members will also be added to the Taste of Nova Scotia website, mailing list, members only Facebook group, members only resource page; and will begin to receive all the benefits of membership.
Unsuccessful applicants will be provided with detailed information on why their application was not successful and invited to resubmit their application within 6 months of the notification. The initial $100 application fee will be applied to the second submission for application at no additional charge.
Renewal
The Taste of Nova Scotia membership year runs from April 1 to March 31 of the following year. Membership is valid from the time of approval until the end of the membership year. Applicants who join after the membership year has begun will have their membership dues prorated for the remainder of the membership year.
All members receive renewal notices prior to the end of the membership year to confirm their intent to renew membership with Taste of Nova Scotia.
Members may also have assessments performed throughout the membership year to ensure membership criteria continue to be upheld. Taste of Nova Scotia reserves the right to suspend or revoke membership should it be found that a member is not upholding membership criteria.
