Annapolis Valley Crop Circle
(Serves one.)
#NSJoyride Cocktail Competition (5 of 5)
#5: Michele Sponagle – @Msponagle
My grandfather was an apple and dairy farmer in the Annapolis Valley for decades, up until his death at almost 102. I have great memories of eating apples straight off the trees and my grandma’s tart apple sauce. With that in mind, I wanted to create a cocktail that showcased Nova Scotia apples, which are simply the best on the planet. Enter Ironworks Apple Brandy and Vodka (made from apples). After tasting them, I knew they belonged together. I hope after you taste this, you’ll agree:
Ingredients
2 oz | Ironworks Apple Brandy |
1 oz | Ironworks Vodka |
.5 oz | Simple Syrup |
1 | Nova Scotia Apple, like Honey Crisp (try Scotian Gold) |
Directions
1. Put all ingredients into a cocktail shaker with plenty of ice.
2. Shake well at least two full minutes to ensure ingredients are well chilled.
3. Strain into a martini glass (pre-chill it, if you can).
4. Use a sharp knife to cut one long ribbon of red apple peel. Place it in the glass to form a circle.
5. Place an unpeeled chunk of apple on a skewer and lay over the top.
6. Sip, then crunch into the apple garnish.
