The Rosy Acadian

Rosie Acadian

#NSJoyride Cocktail Competition (3 of 5)
#3: Kelsy Chauvin – @Kelsycc

Nova Scotia lays claim to many fine ingredients, and the haskap berry is among the most notable for its juicy sweet-yet-tangy zip, as well as it’s deep blue/purple tint.

And among their many fine spirits, local distillery Ironworks makes both refreshingly light rhubarb liqueur and unique, delicious apple-distilled vodka.

The combination of these three main ingredients shake up perfectly together for a glass of liquid cheer perfect for everything from a summer soiree to winter celebration. Top the drink off with a spritz of lemon juice and soda water, a sprig of mint, and short stalk of rhubarb (in season).

As a native of southern Louisiana, I share the French-Acadian heritage of many Nova Scotians — this cocktail is celebration of that legacy.

Ingredients

.5 oz Haskap Juice
1 oz Ironworks Vodka
1 oz Ironworks Rhubarb
1 oz Soda water
1 tsp Lemon Juice

  2. Shake well to ensure ingredients are well mixed and chilled.
  3. Place into a gibraltar and top with soda water and lemon juice.
  4. Garnish with a sprig of mint, lemon wedge and rhubarb.
