Restaurant Application Process
Application
The Taste of Nova Scotia application process involves completing the application form; agreeing to the Taste of Nova Scotia membership criteria; and paying the $100 application fee. Please note the $100 application fee will be applied to the remaining Taste of Nova Scotia membership fees for all successful applicants. If your application for membership is not approved, your application fee will be applied to a second submission at no additional charge.
After submitting your membership application, along with payment for the application fee, you will be contacted by the Taste of Nova Scotia Director of Membership Services to discuss your application, gather documentation to verify criteria and discuss opportunities with Taste of Nova Scotia.
Evaluation
All applicants will be visited by a Taste of Nova Scotia representative. An internal rubric is used by Taste of Nova Scotia to evaluate the experience and to determine if the information provided qualifies applicants for membership. Taste of Nova Scotia reserves the right to contact you and the suppliers listed in your application to verify the information provided.
All members of Taste of Nova Scotia are evaluated on a bi-annual basis upon membership renewal.
Membership Approval
After the evaluation process is complete, the Taste of Nova Scotia membership committee will review the application and evaluation findings. The committee will then make its recommendation to the Taste of Nova Scotia Board of Directors during a scheduled board meeting. The Taste of Nova Scotia Board of Directors will then vote on final approval for membership.
Successful applicants will be awarded membership with Taste of Nova Scotia and will then be forwarded a comprehensive membership package, including a Taste of Nova Scotia membership plaque and door decal, logotype standards, and an invoice for the remaining membership dues minus the $100 application fee. New members will also be added to the Taste of Nova Scotia website, mailing list, members only Facebook group, members only resource page; and will begin to receive all the benefits of membership.
Unsuccessful applicants will be provided with detailed information on why their application was not successful and invited to resubmit their application within 6 months of the notification. The initial $100 application fee will be applied to the second submission for application at no additional charge.
Renewal
The Taste of Nova Scotia membership year runs from April 1 to March 31 of the following year. Membership is valid from the time of approval until the end of the membership year. Applicants who join after the membership year has begun will have their membership dues prorated for the remainder of the membership year.
All members receive renewal notices prior to the end of the membership year to confirm their intent to renew membership with Taste of Nova Scotia. All members will be evaluated biannually to ensure criteria are still being met.
Members may also have assessments performed throughout the membership year to ensure consistent standards of food quality and service. Taste of Nova Scotia reserves the right to suspend or revoke membership should it be found that a member is not upholding membership criteria.
