For Immediate Release: 2022 Taste of Nova Scotia Award Recipients Announced

Wolfville, October 27, 2022: Each year, the Taste of Nova Scotia Awards celebrate the people and products at the heart of Nova Scotia’s culinary industry. The 2022 award recipients were announced during Devour! The Food Film Fest in Wolfville on October 27, 2022.

“Every year, Taste of Nova Scotia is thrilled to present these awards in recognition of the outstanding contribution these recipients have made to their industries, communities, and to the entire province,” says Emily Haynes, executive director, Taste of Nova Scotia. “The annual Taste of Nova Scotia awards shine a light on Nova Scotia’s vibrant food and beverage industry and the remarkable people who work to build it.”

The following Nova Scotia businesses received 2022 Taste of Nova Scotia Awards:

Award for Service
Rhys Harnish — Shore Club  (Hubbards, NS)

Product of the Year
Fundy Gin — Still Fired Distilleries  (Annapolis Royal, NS)

Restaurant of the Year
Rhubarb Restaurant  (Indian Harbour, NS)

Producer of the Year
Boxing Rock Brewing Company  (Shelburne, NS)

 Gary MacDonald Culinary Ambassador Award
Hans Christian Jost

“Being recognized by Taste of Nova Scotia as 2022 Restaurant of the Year is absolutely mind-blowing,” says Diane Buckle, co-owner & operator, Rhubarb Restaurant. “In November we will be celebrating our 10-year anniversary, which in itself, feels like quite an accomplishment — especially after the last two years of doing business in such challenging times. To be honoured in this way really means more than we can even express. We are so grateful to live and work in our community — the relationships we have developed with our team, guests, producers, and suppliers have all led to this moment and we thank everyone for being a part of that.”

The Taste of Nova Scotia Awards are the only province-wide awards that celebrate restaurants, service, food and beverage producers, exporters, and industry leaders, from Yarmouth to Sydney – and everywhere in between.

“We are thrilled to be recognized by Taste of Nova Scotia with this award,” says Emily Cowin, founding partner, Boxing Rock Brewing Company. “Our commitment to quality, customer experience and our community has always felt so aligned with the work that Taste of Nova Scotia does, and we have been proud members of Taste for many years. It is such an honour to be named Producer of the Year.”

Nominations for the Taste of Nova Scotia Awards were received from Taste of Nova Scotia members and the public. The nominations were brought to a judges’ panel and then approved by the Taste of Nova Scotia Board of Directors.

“These awards recognize and celebrate culinary excellence and the commitment, creativity, vision and passion of these five Taste of Nova Scotia members,” says Jason Lynch, Le Caveau Restaurant; Grand Pré Winery; and Cumin Kitchen, and board chair, Taste of Nova Scotia. “It’s important to recognize these people and businesses and celebrate the contributions they make every day to our province’s culinary industry.”
