Brews & Bands: Cape Breton
October 11th marks the first day of Celtic Colours International Festival. This nine- day event celebrates the rich, vibrant Cape Breton culture through music, dance, and community fun. Below are some local spots you can join in celebration. You can pop into one of these at any time and find some great brews and live music.
Celtic Music Interpretive Centre
Experience the music and culture of Cape Breton at Nova Scotia’s official Celtic Music Centre in Judique, Nova Scotia! Try their interactive exhibit room, enjoy daily live music and delicious locally sourced food at the The Ceilidh’s Pub. See their socials for a schedule of events for this week.

Clove Hitch Bistro
Clove Hitch Bistro in Port Hood, NS prides themselves on using ingredients sourced right in Cape Breton, making their seafood menu truly mouth-watering. Bell Buoy Restaurant
Bell Buoy Restaurant in Baddeck, NS provides a friendly experience with meals that not only taste good, but feel good too! You can enjoy their delicious, fresh foods while gazing over the Bras d’Or lakes. If that’s not enough, on Wednesday and Friday nights you can also catch some live music. Governors Pub and Eatery
Governors Pub and Eatery is a family-owned eatery located in Sydney, NS. They have been serving up seafood fresh from the ocean and hand-cut steaks from local butchers for over two decades! Live music happens every night of the week and you can experience traditional Nova Scotia Ceilidhs on Wednesdays and Saturdays. This weekend they will be celebrating with live music from bands from all over the East Coast on Friday and Saturday night at Gobblefest.

The Red Shoe Pub
The Red Shoe Pub is a “home away from home” located in Mabou, NS. It has been a go-to for many locals and visitors over the years. Their home-cooked meals and treasured seafood chowder will have you coming back for more. They have live music seven days a week, so you are always guaranteed to have a good time. Kiju’s Restaurant
Kiju’s is fresh, local and friendly. They are an urban Mi’kmaq community presenting guests with history, hospitality, entertainment and more. They offer a unique dining experience in in Membertou and even have an entire Mi’kmaq inspired menu. You can enjoy a Celtic Serenade every Wednesday from 6:00 – 9:00 PM.
