Halifax, September 21, 2016: The Taste of Nova Scotia Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Emily Haynes as the association’s new executive director. Haynes takes on the role officially on September 21, 2016.
“Emily brings proven leadership to this position. She is absolutely devoted to the brand and we feel that she is the strongest candidate to take Taste of Nova Scotia to new heights and new successes…to confidently and strategically guide us through this next, most important chapter in the history of our association,” says Ted Grant, chair of the board for Taste of Nova Scotia. “She has been a major influencer in the culinary fabric of Nova Scotia over the last six to seven years.”
In her previous role as director of membership services for Taste of Nova Scotia, Haynes increased membership by 57%. She worked directly with members to help grow their businesses through targeted marketing initiatives, business development and educational opportunities.
“I am honored to have the opportunity to continue to work for Taste of Nova Scotia and its 185 members who are the heart, soul and embodiment of what we do,” says Haynes. “I love this industry. I have so much respect and admiration for the businesses that make up our membership. They work tirelessly every day to advance our food, beverage and culinary tourism industries…to put food on our tables and to elevate the entire culinary industry of this province.”
Haynes brings an extensive background in leadership as well as experience working with community-building associations in the not-for-profit sector. In her role as executive director, Haynes will continue to focus Taste of Nova Scotia as the leading resource for the Nova Scotia food, beverage and culinary tourism industries.
