PRESS RELEASE: Experience Avondale Sky
For Immediate Release
Newport Landing, March 20, 2018 – Experience Avondale Sky is a new series of educational and interactive events to be offered at Avondale Sky Winery starting this season, with the first experience to take place on Saturday, March 24, 2018. Each event will combine a uniquely staged multi-course meal featuring locally-sourced ingredients, Avondale Sky’s award-winning wines, live music, local culture and hands-on learning.
The March 24 event invites guests to discover the vineyard secrets of Avondale Sky, and enjoy an afternoon learning vineyard tips and practices from vineyard manager, Pete Smits. Participants will learn how to prune, propagate and plant grapevines of their own, and will learn how to care for and grow grapes in a Maritime climate.
“This is the best way to experience Avondale Sky – an intimate day in the vineyard spent with the people that make this an award-winning winery,” says Jenn Nicholls, organizer of Dining on the Ocean Floor by Flying Apron Inn & Cookery. “Where else do you get to prune grapevines with the vineyard manager and enjoy a meal with the winemaker? Each element was perfectly planned and paired: the vineyard bonfire, potted vines to take home and the live music with dinner. This exclusive behind the scenes experience is a must-do for anyone interested in Nova Scotia wines.”
The second event in the Experience Avondale Sky series is scheduled to take place on Saturday, April 14, 2018 and will allow participants to fulfil their dream of being a winemaker for a day. Avondale Sky’s award-winning winemaker, Ben Swetnam, will reveal how to make Nova Scotia’s signature white wine blends. Guests will have the opportunity to create their own blend to be entered in a blind tasting with other event participants. For both scheduled events, food will be catered by Asado Wood Fired Grill.
“At Avondale Sky we always strive to provide our guests with a great experience,” says winery owner Stewart Creaser. “Our just launched Experience Avondale Sky offerings are our way of allowing guests to have memorable, hands-on, interactive experiences that include great wine, food, music, local culture, history and nature. We invite you to come learn our secrets.”
The first event will be held from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 24 and cost is $175 per person. Tickets are limited and are available for purchase by contacting the winery directly: (902) 253-2047.
