26 Myles Menus – Blue Nose Marathon

26 Myles Menu

Taste of Nova Scotia is a proud partner of the Blue Nose Marathon. Again this year, several Taste of Nova Scotia members have created health-inspired 26 Myles Menus in honour of Myles, the marathon mascot and the 26 miles (roughly 42 kilometres) that make up a  full marathon. Participating restaurants will be running (pun intended) their 26 Myles Menus from May 1-19, 2014.

The 26 Myles Menus offer three or four courses at the $25, $35 or $45 price point. Restaurants are highlighting local ingredients – as much as possible within 26 miles of their restaurant.

This year’s participants include:

Brooklyn Warehouse – 26 Myles Menu
Chives Canadian Bistro – 26 Myles Menu
Harbour City Bar & Grill – 26 Myles Menu
Inn on the Lake – 26 Myles Menu
Morris East Restaurant – 26 Myles Menu
Onyx on Argyle – 26 Myles Menu
Seasons by Atlantica – 26 Myles Menu
The Galley Restaurant and Lounge – 26 Myles Menu

Eat locally and fuel-up before the big race!

Excerpts from The Chronicle Herald (May 10, 2013):

Jennie Dobbs, owner of Morris East in downtown Halifax, ran the race  (Blue Nose) the same year she opened her restaurant.

“When you run the race, you get this amazing sense of community,” Dobbs said Friday. “We want to carry that on into our restaurants … so I tried to pick a couple of my current foods and things that we pass along the run.”

“The marathon brings so many people from near and far together to celebrate the spirit of running and the spirit of community, and food is a big part of community,” said Emily Haynes with Taste of Nova Scotia. “We were looking for ways to engage our members, and came up with the idea for us to draw attention to our local restaurants.”
