The Purdy family came to Malagash in 1783 and have been involved in the shellfish industry for generations. As the oldest oyster farm in Canada, they believe in the sustainable production of shellfish using traditional and modern methods that protect the ecology of the area.

This company operates a multi-species shellfish hatchery, nursery system, in-bay oyster spat collection, 200+ acres of leased bottom is used for the production of native oysters and quahogs.
