Food Fare by the Sea
Taste of Nova Scotia Food Fare by the Sea
Nova Scotia has opened its doors to the world with 2017 RDV Tall Ships Regatta, a celebration of our seafaring heritage, but you can’t have a celebration without amazing food and drink, right? Clear some time in your Tall Ships agenda and make sure to swing by Taste of Nova Scotia’s Food Fare by the Sea from July 28 to 31, 2017!
Food Fare by the Sea is a food vendor village on the Salter Block, where you’ll get a taste of some of the best culinary experiences this province has to offer. Serving up delicious local fare this year is Meadowbrook Meat Market, Mr. Donair, Harbour City Bar & Grill, Clearwater, Scanway, Cake Lady, Spa Springs, The Union Street, Heartwood Restaurant and Cheelin Restaurant. Admission to the site is complimentary, as is all of the CBC concerts on site. Vendors will be selling local food, and there will be a bar serving up lots of Nova Scotia wine, beer, cider and spirits as well!
Our advice? Come with an empty stomach, ready to support local restaurants and producers!
Mains
Harbour City Bar and Grill will be selling seafood chowder and Nova Scotia lobster rolls. If you want the full lobster experience – go for a whole lobster dinner from Clearwater Seafoods. But, if seafood isn’t what you had in mind, Union Street will be on site with a delicious selection of their paninis (maple ham, or peach & ricotta). In addition, they will be serving up Valley peanut noodles and wonton nachos – perfect for a side or a lighter snack option. Vegetarians in the crowd will be thrilled to know Heartwood Restaurant has their needs covered, serving up pad thai, falafel and their signature Heartwood Bowls. Also, to see how locally-sourced ingredients enhance authentic Szechuan cuisine, seek out Chinese food from Cheelin.
Desserts
For those of you with a sweet tooth, Scanway & The Cake Lady will be your go-to vendors. Scanway is serving up refreshing sweet lemonade, their signature doughnuts and trifle in a cup. While The Cake Lady has something sweet for any pallet, from a apple strudel to coconut cream pie, it will be impossible to leave with an empty stomach and without a full smile on your face.
Drinks & Donairs
Finally, to quench your thirst, Spa Springs, Meadowbrook Meat Market, Mr. Donair and Scanway all have an array of non-alcoholic beverages for you to choose from. For local wine, beer, spirits and cider – head to the RCR Hospitality Group bar tent (on site).
