Montavista Mulled Wine
Mulled wine has been a holiday favourite for a long time. This recipe, with a Nova Scotia twist, is the perfect drink to welcome your guests in from the cold. It also makes your house smell like Christmas!
Ingredients
Serves 6
| 1 bottle | Avondale Sky Montavista (red wine)* |
| 1 | orange, juiced |
| 1 | lemon, juiced |
| 1/2 cup (125 ml) | brown sugar |
| 8 | whole cloves |
| 2 | cinnamon sticks |
| 2 | star anise pods |
| 1 tbsp (5 ml) | vanilla |
*This mulled wine can be made and then reheated for up to one week
Directions
- Combine all the ingredients in a large saucepan
- Bring to boil and simmer for 5 minutes
- Pour through a strainer in to punch cups. Or, mix in a pre heated slow cooker, allowing 20 minutes to heat through.
- Let guests serve themselves.
