Strawberry Trifle
As seen on Global Morning News, Helen from Mrs. MacGregor’s Shortbreads offers up simple, yet elegant ways to serve up local strawberries to your family and friends this summer. Pick up strawberries from Stirling Fruit Farms or your local farmers’ market.
Ingredients
1 | pound cake |
2 1/2 cups | strawberries (clean and hulled) |
1 1/2 cups | whipping cream |
strawberry jello | |
custard pudding |
Directions:
1. Line bottom of serving bowl with slices of pound cake.
2. Slice strawberries and place on top of pound cake.
3. Follow directions on package for strawberry jello. Allow the jello to thicken before pouring over the strawberries and pound cake.
4. When the jello has set, make the custard pudding, using your favourite recipe. Set aside the custard to cool, covering it with plastic wrap to prevent a skim from forming on its top.
5. Whip the whipping cream until it is firm, but still spreadable.
6. Pour the cooled (but still spreadable) custard on top of the jello/strawberry mixture.
7. Spread the whipped cream on top of the custard layer.
