Taste of the Month: Oysters
Shells yeah, it’s OYSTER MONTH at Taste of Nova Scotia!
Let the world be your oyster as you experience this delicious Nova Scotia delicacy. Oyster month is the perfect opportunity for oyster lovers and newcomers alike to hop on the Seafood Trails and enjoy oysters from one end of the province to the other.
- Taste: Restaurants on the oyster trail feature raw and cooked oysters – several even have oyster happy hours. Cheers!
- Purchase: Buy local Nova Scotia oysters from an oyster farm and try your hand at oyster shucking.
- Recipes: We’ve got fun food and drink recipes featuring Nova Scotia oysters for you to try at home.
- WIN: Our contest to win two tickets to the Halifax Oyster Festival will launch on September 14 – follow us on Facebook to win!
OYSTER FESTIVAL: Sept 29 & 30
Is it a coincidence OYSTER MONTH coincides with The Coast Oyster Fest? Absolutely not!!! For tasting sessions, shucking competitions, and more – be sure to get your tickets for the Halifax Oyster Festival. Taste members Sober Island Oysters, Eel Lake Oyster Farm, and Bay Enterprises will be there so don’t forget to stop by and say hi!
All month, we’ll be featuring tasty oyster recipes and information about oysters (how do you shuck an oyster?) on our website and social media. Eat them freshly shucked – or have some fun making the Oyster Po’ Boy or Oyster Rockefeller Pasta.
Follow along with us this September and don’t forget to #tasteofthemonth.
Curious what we’ve got planned next? In the coming months, we’ll be featuring the following Nova Scotia themes:
October – Harvest
November – Craft Beverages
December – Decadent December
