May 4: Red Wine Tasting & Blending Seminar
How does a winemaker select the varietals and the proportion of each to create a blended wine? Dive into this question and more at Planter’s Ridge upcoming seminar led by local Sommelier Amy Savoury. You will be guided through a vertical tasting of the award-winning 2015, 2016 and not-yet-released 2017 Quintessence Red wines, make your way to the cellar to do a barrel tasting of each of the varietals that make up the Quintessence Red blend, then you will take a hands-on approach to wine making to experiment and create your own 2018 Quintessence Red blend! Play with different percentages of each varietal and find a mix that suits your palate.
