Get your stretchy pants ready because this week we have a couple feasts that you’re not going to want to miss! On top of that, you’re invited to take a nature walk through the beautiful woods of the Northumberland Shore followed by fresh pancakes. Looking for new dinner spot? August is Blueberry Month at Taste of Nova Scotia and we are berry excited to share all of our awesome locally inspired recipes, experiences and ideas with you all month long!
August 22: Suppertime Music
Head to the Red Shoe Pub this week for a delicious meal and good music! They will be hosting Melody & Derrick Cameron from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. for entertainment to go along side your incredible and locally-sourced dinner. We recommend trying one of their two Maritime Mussels — Mussels In Love features white wine, blue cheese and pear cream AND Drinkin’ Mussels, featuring Red Shoe Ale, bacon and garlic served with Irish soda bread and butter.
August 25: Feast! A Cole Harbour Long Table Dinner
Join the Cole Harbour Heritage Farm Museum as they host a Long Dinner Table Feast in the farmyard! The evening includes a four-course meal made with the delicious flavours of Nova Scotia’s August, including a treacle tart with August berries. Between courses, guests will enjoy special performances by musician, David Bradshaw, and storyteller, Cindy Campbell-Stone. Meander River will also be joining with a selection of their delicious craft beer and ciders.
August 26: Nature Night
Nature Night at Sugar Moon Farm is a fun and engaging way to raise awareness and appreciation for nature on the Northumberland Shore of Nova Scotia. This week, lichenologist Robert Cameron will take you on a fascinating and interpretive hike at Sugar Moon Farm to learn all about lichen. To top it off they will be providing dinner and refreshments all day including Sugar Moon maple-baked beans and fresh pancakes topped with seasonal fruit.
August 26: Epic East Coast Feast
The Argyler Restaurant and Lodge is hosting a feast and let us tell you, they’re not kidding when they say it’s epic. Bringing together all of the best culinary features Nova Scotia has to offer, the Argyler Lodge will be putting together a seafood focused feast that will include your favourites including fresh seafood pasta and Bay of Fundy clams. Just when you thought this dinner couldn’t get anymore East Coast, each course is paired with a Nova Scotia Tidal Bay.
August: Morris East New Location
Grab your family and call your friends because Morris East Restaurant and Wine Bar has a new location and it is officially open! The new location on Quinpool features delicious fresh dishes in addition to their already incredible menu. Try out their new fire oven lemon chicken pizza and the lemon tagliatelle with pomegranate seeds. They also have a daily happy hour from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. featuring six local taps, one rotating tap and local wines by the glass to choose from! Cask Friday (August 31)— Join Schoolhouse Brewery as they crack open one of their experimental brews!
Lobster Bay Culinary Adventure (September 3) — Join the Argyler Lodge and Restaurant for a lesson that will leave your taste buds tingling – just in time for dinner!
Avondale Garlic Festival (September 15) — Join Avondale Sky Winery as they host the Garlic Festival. Great music and garlic-inspired food all on the beautiful grounds by the vineyards.
Chef Night With Wild Caraway (October 14)— Sugar Moon Farm will be hosting a chef night featuring the Wild Caraway Restaurant and Café. The menu will be created around what’s available in their gardens, the seashore and the forest at that time.
