Lieutenant-Governor’s Awards
Four wines received the 2022 Lieutenant-Governor’s Award for Excellence in Nova Scotia Wines at a ceremony at Government House last Thursday. To be considered, wineries from across the province submit up to three commercially available wines made with 100-per-cent Nova Scotian grapes for an independent panel of experts to taste in a blind tasting. The panel of experts selects the top four submissions for the annual award.
This year’s recipients are:
- 2013 Blanc de Noir Extra Brut, Avondale Sky Winery, Newport Landing
- Riesling Sparkling, NV, Domaine de Grande Prè, Grand Prè
- 2015 Blanc de Noirs, Lightfoot & Wolfville Vineyards, Wolfville
- 2021 Tidal Bay, Mercator Vineyards, Wolfville
Halifax Seaport Cider & Beerfest
Halifax Seaport Cider & Beerfest is back with 300 craft beer, ciders and fizzy drinks! There will be four sessions from August 4th to 6th. Tickets include 10 complimentary drink tickets for 4 oz samples. Extra drink tickets will be five for $10. Get your tickets here.
Benjamin Bridge

Sugar Moon Farm
Sugar Moon Farm presents the Canadian Maple Indulgence. Happening at 6 p.m. on August 12, this is an exclusive behind-the-scenes experience for a small number of guests. The event includes a private behind-the-scenes tour with the owner, charcuterie and maple cocktails, a cozy fireside table in the log restaurant and a relaxed evening as Sugar Moon Chef Mike Spurrell presents a multi-course farm-to-table dinner and shares some of his maple culinary explorations.
