What’s Cooking February 13 to 20?

In Nova Scotia, we have fancy Valentine’s dinner dates and we have anti-Valentine’s mixers and speed dating. Whatever your celebration style is – we have you covered!

We’ve declared February as LOVE LOCAL month at Taste of Nova Scotia. As you celebrate Valentine’s Day this month, make sure you spread some of that love to Nova Scotia’s culinary community!

Feb 14: Valentine’s Speed Dating

The Stubborn Goat is hosting their 4th annual speed dating event on Valentine’s Day. Price includes: welcome drink, intermission drink, snacks and all needed materials.

Feb 14: Oyster Shucking Workshop

Afishionado

Learn how to shuck oysters at Afishionado Fishmongers with your hunny this Valentine’s Day! This event includes 14 oysters to practice your shucking skills on and to eat after. Various oyster toppings will be provided.

Feb 14: Valentine’s Day Dinner

Take your Valentine to a special evening filled with fine wine and delicious food at Obladee, a Wine Bar. Sit down to a 3-course meal with an option of wine pairings with each course.

Feb 14: Anti-Valentine’s Singles Mixer

Skip the bitterness of being single on Valentine’s Day and celebrate instead with a mixer at Durty Nelly’s. Enjoy a night of fun with live music, drink specials and anti-Valentine’s Day festivities!

Feb 14: Valentine’s Lunch or Dinner

Enjoy special live music in the evening and delicious pizza at Morris East Restaurant this Valentine’s Day. Don’t forget about their all day prosecco happy hour as well – perfect for toasting the occasion! Reservations recommended.

Feb 16: Rare & Fine Wine

Is there a better way to celebrate a belated Valentine’s Day than with the superb wine at Savour Food and Wine Festival’s Rare and Fine Wine event? It is an evening for the true wine lover with world class wine, hors d’oeuvres and live jazz.

Now to February 19: South Shore Lobster Crawl

Make sure to be a part of Nova Scotia’s first ever Lobster Crawl! Taste 14 different lobster rolls, participate in lobster-related activities, meet Lucy the lob”star” and more! Try lobster rolls from Taste members White Point Beach Resort, Grand Banker, Kiwi Cafe, Mateus Bistro, Quarterdeck Beachside Villas and Grill, Oak Island Resort, Lane’s Privateer Inn and Capt. Kat’s Lobster Shack.

Now to March 15: Dine Around

Savour Food and Wine Festival’s Dine Around is the perfect opportunity to try out some local restaurants. Shuck Seafood + Raw Bar has a tasty feature menu: First course: option of salmon poke, Caesar salad or crab cake. Second course: option of prosciutto wrapped haddock,  seafood stew or Korean fried chicken. Third course: Steph’s feature cupcake!

Bonus: For Valentine’s Day at Shuck, enjoy half price champagne, oysters and raw bar during extended happy hours: 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

 

Savour Food & Wine Festival (Feb. 22) – Bringing together some of Nova Scotia’s talented mixologists, incredible brewers, award-winning winemakers as well as phenomenal chefs over a series of five incredible events.

Nova Scotia Ice Wine Festival (Feb. 24 to March 4) – The Nova Scotia Icewine Festival is the premier winter wine festival hosted in the heart of the Annapolis Valley.

Maplicious (March 17) – We’ve tapped into our roots and are pleased to celebrate the sweet liquid gold at Maplicious on March 17th at the Wolfville Farmers’ Market.

Devour! Fox Harb’r Weekend Getaway (May 18 to 20) – Fox Harb’r Resort is delighted to host once again the Nova Scotia created food & film festival, a celebration of culinary and cinema, with an added splash of comedy. Hosted by CBC personality, stand-up comic, actor and chef Ali Hassan.
