What’s Cooking May 29 to June 5?

 This week is all about appreciating Nova Scotia’s land and sea – attend a seafood festival, run through Annapolis Valley vineyards or try some authentic Chinese food made with local ingredients. While you’re at it, indulge in a true Nova Scotian burger (the Lunenburger) with a side of stand-up comedy.

May 30: Authentic Chinese Fusion Night

June 1-5: World Oceans Week

White Point Beach Resort Summer Concert Series

In celebration of our nearest and dearest friend, the Atlantic Ocean, White Point Beach Resort is taking a deep dive and offering a week full of guest speakers, experiences and adventures. The week is filled with activities from Oceanside Yoga to After Dark by the Sea as well as an outdoor painting class.

June 1: Stand Up Comedy Night

Stand up comedy is coming back to the Grand Banker, with special guests Andrew Evans, Ian Black, Andrew Vaughan and Dan Hendricken. These comedians will leave you laughing at yourself, at them and the world around you! While you’re there make sure to fill up on local classics like seafood chowder or even better, The Lunenburger.

June 2-3: Cold Waters Seafood Fest

The cold clear waters of Eastern Shore hold some of freshest and outstanding assortment of seafood the province has to offer. To celebrate this culinary delight, Eastern Shore is hosting a Cold Waters Seafood Festival! There will be family activities and vendors offering some of your favourite local seafood dishes including, The Henley House’s seafood chowder. While you’re there make sure to check the unique oyster-infused stout by Sober Island Brewing.

June 3: Brigadoon’s Wine & Dash

Running and wine? Best. Run. Ever. Spend your day running or walking through Nova Scotia wine country and sample different wines along the route of Brigadoon’s Wine & Dash!

Participating Vineyards: Luckett Vineyards, Gaspereau Vineyards, L’Acadie Vineyards, Domaine De Grand Pre, Lightfoot and Wolfville Vineyards and Benjamin Bridge.

June 4: National Cheese Day

It’s National Cheese Day – as if we need an excuse to eat all of the delicious cheese our Nova Scotia farmers have to offer! From a smokey and rich Gouda to a classic sharp cheddar, our Nova Scotia farmers make a variety of cheeses fresh from their farm to your house. Try pairing your favourite cheese with a peppered jelly from Galloping Cows for an added sweetness!

World Oceans Week (June 5-10) —  White Point Beach Resort continues celebrating the beauty of Nova Scotia’s ocean through intimate and unique experiences by the sea.

Drink Atlantic Cocktail Festival (June 7-9) — Join Drink Atlantic as they celebrate Halifax’s cocktail movement and innovative bar programs.

Shelburne County Lobster Festival (June 7-10) — Four days of fun events and culinary lobster delights on the south shore of Nova Scotia.

Le Caveau Culinary Series (June 8) — Join Chef Jason Lynch and guest Michelle Ball at Le Caveau Restaurant for a special 5-course culinary experience.

Vino & Vinyasa Summer Session (June 10) — This June, Planters Ridge Winery is hosting an outdoor yoga class overlooking their vineyard. To top it off, class is followed by a tour AND wine tasting.

East Coast Cider Festival (June 16) — That’s right folks, the East Coast Cider Festival back for another year.

Summer Celebration on the Hill 5.0 (June 16) — Luckett Vineyards hosts their annual dinner party and dance to welcome in the 2018 summer with special guest, Party Boots! Tickets include admission, dinner and one glass of select wine, beer or cider.

Scotch Paired Feast (June 21) — Join chef Mark Grey at The Watch That Ends The Night as he prepares a feast paired with a variety of delectable scotch.
