2023 Product of the Year: Afishionado Smoked Salmon
Please join us in congratulating this year’s recipient of the 2023 Taste of Nova Scotia Award for Product of the Year, Afishionado Fishmongers for their smoked salmon!
This award recognizes a Taste of Nova Scotia member product that embodies the essence of Nova Scotia – it is memorable, unique, and proudly local. In the case of this smoked salmon, it’s all about celebrating local, from their exclusive use of Sustainable Blue salmon to the use of local maple syrup and birch wood chips during the smoking of the salmon. This product was first produced in 2021, starting with their Nova Lox, and has since expanded to include other offerings, such as hot smoked salmon, candied salmon, and gochugaru double smoked salmon.
For Afishionado, knowing the story behind the fish they sell is paramount. They are a community-minded purveyor of fresh and fresh-frozen seafood, dedicated to bringing low-impact fishing traditions to consumers. As part of their long-term vision, they aim to provide seafood for generations to come – and their smoked salmon is no exception.
