Welcome, October! This beautiful autumn month brings crisp air, colourful trees, pumpkin carvings, family gatherings and all the delicious tastes of harvest.
Nova Scotia is plentiful this time of year and there are lots of ways to experience the rich flavours this province has to offer in October. This week we are celebrating Thanksgiving and there are many feasts happening at your favourite local restaurants. Keep reading to find out where to get some of the best Thanksgiving dinners.
October 4: Thanksgiving at White Point Lodge

We all know that vegetables are bountiful during this wonderful fall season, and Lincoln Street is celebrating the best of the harvest! Chef Paolo’s Fall Harvest Market Dinner features five plates highlighting local autumn vegetables.

October 6: Oktoberfest at The Flying Apron
It is the 5th annual celebration of Oktoberfest at the Flying Apron. Head on over and enjoy a delicious buffet menu featuring pork roast with wheat beer gravy, maple roasted seasonal vegetables, a German cold cut & smoked sausage plate and a selection of desserts to top it all off. Enjoy your feast while participating in trivia or listening to live music with “Touch of Brass”.

October 6: Saturday Market at Wolfville Farmers’ Market
The Wolfville Farmers’ Market has everything you need for your LOCAL Thanksgiving weekend. Pick up some locally made cheese to go with your Thanksgiving charcuterie board from FoxHill Cheese House. Indulge in some desserts and baked goods from Boulangerie la Vendeenne, Gourmandises Avenue Chocolaterie or The Cake Lady. Lastly, it isn’t a Nova Scotia Thanksgiving without some Nova Scotia wine and spirits, stop by Benjamin Bridge, Grand Pre Wines, Lightfoot and Wolfville, Barrelling Tide or Ironworks to stock up for your celebrations.

Pumpkin Picking + More
Pumpkin pies, apple pies, squash soup are popular fall dishes that taste best when they’re made with fresh produce. For your local fruit and veggies look no farther than Noggins Farm or Stirling Fruit Farms. Both farms have u-picks filled with ripe and ready for the picking, pumpkins and apples. Visit their markets for fresh produce such as sweet corn, beans, peas and squash. A quick trip to Wolfville for some fresh farm goods and your meals will be out of this world all month long.
