What’s Cooking? September 2 – September 9
While the temperatures may be getting a bit cooler, we’re not ready to say goodbye to summer just yet and we have a handful of events that will help the warm season last a little longer. Read on to see what’s cooking around the province this week.
September 3: Breeze & Wilson at Petite Riviere
Head to the South Shore to catch Breeze & Wilson playing live at Petite Riviere Vineyards. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show starts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 per person and are available on Eventbrite and at the winery.

September 6: Vine Side Concert Series
Join Gaspereau Vineyards for their final Vine Side Concert Series of the season on September 6 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. This event will feature music from Annapolis Valley singer-songwriter Sarah Pound. Cover is free and the kitchen will remain open during this event. They will be accepting donations in support of the Gaspereau Community Centre in lieu of a cover charge.

September 6: Authentic Seacoast Cocktail Cruise
This experience brings Guysborough’s Authentic Seacoast to Halifax’s waterfront. Upon boarding the Tall Ship Silva, you will be greeted with a complimentary cocktail crafted using Authentic Seacoast spirits. A cash bar is also available on board. This cruise is available to guests 19+.

September 7: Liscombe Hiking Adventure
In partnership with Hike Nova Scotia, Liscombe Lodge is hosting a “Hike-Eat-Stay” weekend getaway. Explore the Liscombe River Trail and cross the suspension bridge overlooking the waterfall and nearby fish ladder with guide Lori Taylor.

September 8: Sunday Brunch
Join Digby Pines for their September Sunday brunch series beginning on September 8 at 11 a.m. Cost is $29.95 per person and there will be live entertainment from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m.

Festival of Honey (September 13): Local honey stars in this new class at The Flying Apron that coincides with the Honey Harvest Festival at Newport Landing. Hands-on class & accommodations package includes: two hands-on class registrations, dinner on Friday (in your class), accommodations and breakfast.
Open Farm Day (September 15): Meet local farmers and producers from all over Nova Scotia! Get the inside scoop on how they grow and raise delicious food. Taste member participants include: Sugar Moon Farm, Meander River Farm, Grand Pre Wines and more!
Renée Lavallée at Sugar Moon Farm (September 20): Join Renée Lavallée, Top Chef contender & owner of The Canteen as she presents a seasonal maple-inspired dinner with Nova Scotia wines at Sugar Moon Farm. Tickets available here.
Avondale Garlic Festival (September 21): Mark your calendars for the 7th annual Avondale Garlic Fest on Saturday, September 21st! Celebrate Nova Scotia’s garlic growers while enjoying live music, fine art, great food, cooking demos and more at Eastern Canada’s largest garlic festival on the picturesque Avondale Sky Winery grounds.
Fall Harvest Port & Chocolate Tasting (September 28): Sainte-Famille Wines is celebrating the fall harvest by featuring their award-winning Kingsport paired with gourmet chocolates. This event will feature live music by Roland Smith from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
