DesBarres Manor Inn Names New Chef
Authentic Seacoast Resorts Proprietor Glynn Williams has announced the appointment of Joe MacLellan as the new Executive Chef at the Authentic Seacoast Resorts luxury property DesBarres Manor Inn. A native of Ohio, Nova Scotia, a small village outside of Antigonish, Chef MacLellan returns home after seven years of cooking in leading restaurants across Canada and internationally.

Chef MacLellan’s will continue DesBarres Manor Inn’s commitment to seasonal daily menus inspired by the flavours of Nova Scotia. “My cooking can best be described as modern Canadian cuisine with a regional Nova Scotia influence,” stated Joe. “I like to take the ingredients that are around us in Nova Scotia and turn them into something special.”
“We missed the trees, the ocean and the lakes,” said Chef MacLellan in discussing his decision to return home to Nova Scotia. “I wanted to bring back what I learned in my travels and to be close to family. DesBarres Manor is an amazing property and a great venue to bring back the flavours of my grandparents and parents and interpret them in a modern way.”
Prior to joining DesBarres Manor Inn, Chef MacLellan was Sous Chef at George Restaurant in Toronto, rated by Zagat’s as one of the World’s Top Restaurants. Joe also held progressive chef roles in Thuet Bistro, Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise and the acclaimed Restaurant Schwass in New Zealand.
