Good Cheer Trail 101
Let’s hear it for Good Cheer (the Trail, that is!)
Our newest culinary experience, the Good Cheer Trail, officially launched on June 1. Still not sure what it is? Let our handy guide answer your questions.
What
The Good Cheer Trail is Canada’s first winery, craft brewery and distillery trail. Named after Samuel de Champlain’s Order of Good Cheer, over 35 participants are set to help you to discover your own unique drinking experience.
Like the Chowder Trail, the Good Cheer Trail is a passport experience. Whether you have a physical passport, or you choose to use the innovative Digital Passport, make sure you get a stamp or check-in virtually when you visit each participating winery, brewery and distillery. After collecting ten stamps, redeem your passport for a Good Cheer Trail t-shirt from Lost Cod!
Where
From Yarmouth to Sydney, the Good Cheer Trail has a stop in every region of Nova Scotia. Sampling Apple Brandy at Ironworks Distillery, Tidal Bay at Gaspereau Vineyards or Red Ale from Rare Bird Craft Beer – Where will your Good Cheer Trail adventure take you?
Who
There are a total of 38 participants on the trail: 14 wineries, 17 craft breweries and brewpubs, 5 distilleries and 2 historical experiences. The trail itself is a partnership between Taste of Nova Scotia, the Tourism Nova Scotia and Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency.
When
Each year, the trail will launch on June 1 and continue through to October 31. Whether the trail is part of a summer road trip, or a way to experience the fall flavours, it’s sure to be a great time.
How
To enjoy the trail responsibly, take part in a Good Cheer Trail tour offered by operators such as Grape Escapes and the Magic Winery Bus, or arrange for a designated driver. No matter whose itinerary you follow, the tastes and scenery are best enjoyed responsibly.
Why
This experience not only gives you the opportunity to travel Nova Scotia, it allows you to meet the people behind your favourite products. It’s also an amazing opportunity to discover new places and products.
Good cheer, good product and good people. We’ll see you on the trail!
