We love you Nova Scotia!

Nove Scotia Love

It is no secret that the team at Taste of Nova Scotia is passionate about all things food and drink related, but our love for Nova Scotia is truly hard to contain. One this ‘Day of Love’ we felt that it was appropriate for each of us to take a few minutes to express how we really felt about Nova Scotia.

Janice Ruddock, Executive Director

I love you Nova Scotia food and wine all through the year,
Not just on Valentine’s Day;
I cherish the fiddleheads and fresh lobster season when flowers of spring
Appear in the midst of May.

I adore the fresh, sun kissed strawberries in the summer,
When the air is filled with heat;
Without all of the wonderful foods and wine made in Nova Scotia in my life each day,
I wouldn’t be complete.

I treasure Nova Scotia foods in the fall,
When leaves are turning gold;
the grape and apple harvests,
I’ll love you forever.

I adore you in the winter,
When colder days are here;
the ice wines, the maple syrup
I cherish Nova Scotia Food and Wines every minute of the year.

So on this Valentine Day,
I just want everyone to know,
It’s not just today, but always,
I will love Nova Scotia food and wines.

Oh Nova Scotia
Your people are kind
Your scenery is beautiful
and your food is divine

A bounty of apples
peaches and plums
And let us not
forget your rums

Your wine and spirits
cider and beer
When shared with friends
bring good cheer

Strawberries, blueberries
raspberries too
Cranberries, gooseberries
to name a few

Restaurants and markets
cafes and shops
chefs and artisans
to you we give props

Oceans and orchards
Shores and fields
Fishers and farmers
your work never yields

For all this we give thanks
as you always give more
and on this Valentines Day
it’s you we adore!

Doug Townsend, Director of Marketing

Oh Nova Scotia, how I love you so. You have been close to my heart since the day I was born and you continue to amaze me everyday. I have spent much of my life exploring your vast number of coves, inlets, rivers and mountains and yet you still have so many beautiful places that I have yet to discover.

And your food! Where do I begin? You deliver on so many levels. Your fresh seafood, crisp wines, sweet maple syrup and tender lamb will always keep me coming back for more.

But your greatest quality is that you continue to inspire so many hard working farmers, fishermen, chefs, winemakers, distillers, brewmasters and bakers with your incredible bounty from the land and sea. Best of all – you continue to inspire me each and every day.

Thank you Nova Scotia for always being faithful and authentic. Just thinking about you brings a smile to my face.

Christine White, Director of Communications and Events

When I was a child I would lie on my belly looking over the wharf at my grandparent’s cottage in Black Point. I was constantly amazed and felt an overwhelming sense of belonging, just by watching the crabs scurry below, the fish swim by and the lap of the waves against the rocks. This became a ritual every summer we visited and the feelings those memories bring back are a pivotal reason why I feel such a passionate connection with this province.

Why do I love Nova Scotia? That’s an easy question…

I love your rugged coastline, lush valleys and your captivating deep blue sea.
I love the sense of peace and the friendliness of the people.
I love that chefs from around the world choose to live HERE because of our access to fresh, local ingredients.
I love the maple syrup, blueberries, lobster, vegetables, wine and so many other delicious ingredients that make their way onto my plate and in my glass.
I love that we have passionate people dedicated to making Nova Scotia an extraordinary culinary destination.

Ultimately, I appreciate and love the passion of the Nova Scotia people, and the awesomeness of the land and the sea.

I love the Nova Scotia culinary industry! How couldn’t you? It’s impossible to overlook the sense of community whenever you walk into a farmers’ market or visit a local restaurant that is offering a delicious menu full of Nova Scotia food. I love knowing who farms my favourite dried cranberries and where my favourite beer is made!

I love living in a province full of empowered consumers that believe so strongly in backing the local businesses that deserve our support.
