Get ready for a week of live music, great food and even better drinks because not only is Halifax hosting this years ECMAs, it’s also Nova Scotia Craft Beer Week! As we continue to celebrate our wonderful craft beer industry, make sure to leave room for margaritas, an unpredictable dinner and a unique taste-off between local beer and wine.

In other exciting news, the Good Cheer Trail is back and we’re dedicating a whole month to it! May is Good Cheer month – Grab a friend and grab your passports, because it’s time to celebrate the unique breweries, cideries, distilleries and wineries that beautiful Nova Scotia has to offer!

May 2: East Coast Music Awards–Kick Off Waterfront Concert

Be prepared for a full week of dancing and live music as the East Coast Music Awards are in Halifax! Start the festivities off by attending the 30th Anniversary Kick Off Waterfront Concert held on the Halifax waterfront. Gates open at 6 p.m. and the complementary concert is all-ages so, bring the whole family! Before cozy-ing up by the fire pits, stop by restaurants like Little Oak, The Press Gang, Chives, or Waterfront Warehouse for some great local food to complement the local music. Who knows? You might just run into your favourite local musician…

May 4: Winemaker Vs Brewmaster at The Grand Banker

The Grand Banker Bar & Grill is hosting round six of the much anticipated Winemaker vs Brewmaster taste-off! This round features Alex Morozov from Benjamin Bridge and Karl Whiffen from Uncle Leo’s Brewery as they challenge each other for the best pairings in a unique and local taste-off. The fun-filled evening will consist of 5 courses made with the best ingredients Nova Scotia has to offer, as well as 5 wines AND 5 brews! Beer or wine? You decide the winner!

May 5: Cinco de Mayo + Margarita Takeover

Fun fact: Cinco de Mayo literally means the 5th of May! It is a national holiday in Mexico that celebrates the victory of the Mexican Army.  What better way to celebrate a Mexican holiday than with a margarita takeover? The Watch That Ends The Night will be hosting a Cinco de Mayo + Margarita Takeover evening as the whole menu will be replaced with margarita riffs. Don’t miss out on scallop ceviche, chili con carne AND tacos!

May 5: Nova Scotia Craft Beer Week Full House

Come celebrate Nova Scotia Craft Beer Week at the fourth annual Full House Craft Beer Fest event! This year, the Halifax Forum will be filled with over 38 participating breweries from across the province including some of our proud members: Schoolhouse Brewery, Meander River Farm, Garrison Brewing, Wayfarers’ Ale, Propeller Brewing, Saltbox Brewing, Sober Island Brewing Company and Boxing Rock Brewing Company. Tickets include 12 samplers AND a take home glass, so don’t miss out on ALE the fun!

May 8: Unpredictable Dining Night

Enjoy a unique and intimate dinner hosted by Tangled Garden! The four course Unpredictable Dining Night will take place in, around or close to the garden and is inspired by chef Mark Merrin’s culinary delights as well as the herbs and fruits that surround the location. Not only is the food local, but the wine will be provided by Benjamin Bridge which is also located in the heart of Gaspereau Valley!

12 Tides (May 11) – Discover Nova Scotia’s premium white wine at the Tidal Bay Annual Release and Tasting Event, hosted at the Halifax Marriott Harbour front Hotel on May 11, 2018, from 7-10pm.

Devour! Fox Harb’r Weekend Getaway (May 18 to 20) – Fox Harb’r Resort is delighted to host once again the Nova Scotia created food & film festival, a celebration of culinary and cinema, with an added splash of comedy. Hosted by CBC personality, stand-up comic, actor and chef Ali Hassan.

Authentic Chinese Fusion Night (May 30)– The Orient Chinese Cuisine and Chef Ivan Chan are hosting a night of authentic Chinese food with a Nova Scotian twist!

Vino & Vinyasa Summer Session (June 10)–This summer, Planters Ridge is hosting an outdoor Yoga class overlooking their vineyard. To top it off, class is followed by a tour AND wine tasting! Tickets are available online.

East Coast Cider Festival (June 16) – That’s right folks, the East Coast Cider Festival back for another year. 2018 will be bigger and better, there will also be the option to choose between one of two sessions.

Summer Celebration on the Hill 5.0 (June 16)–Luckett Vineyards does their fifth annual dinner party and dance to welcome in the 2018 summer with special guest, Party Boots! Tickets include admission, dinner and one glass of select wine, beer or cider.
