What’s Cooking: St. Patrick’s Day Edition

St. Patrick’s Day is always a lively time in Nova Scotia. Whether you’ve got Irish roots or you’re simply in it for the festive atmosphere, the day brings plenty of reasons to celebrate. With live music, special events, and seasonal products popping up across the province, there’s no shortage of ways to join in the fun.
If you’re looking to celebrate, here’s how to do St. Paddy’s Day the Nova Scotia way!
Paddy’s Brewpub & Rosie’s Restaurant
If you’re looking for the headquarters of St. Patrick’s Day in the Valley, Paddy’s Brewpub & Rosie’s Restaurant is where it’s at. Both locations are also hosting a St. Practice Day Party on Saturday, March 14th, to get you celebrating early!

On Tuesday March 17th, the doors are open and the energy is high starting at noon. You can expect a full house at both locations, plenty of local brews, and that classic pub atmosphere and charm!

Tatamagouche Brewing Co.
If you find yourself on the North Shore, you’ll have to stop by Tatamagouche Brewing Co for a celebration in their taproom! They’re getting the party started early on Saturday, March 14th. If you’re a fan of traditional Irish music, this is the place to be!
- Catch Ross O’Ciarmhaic & The O’Ciarmhaics performing live from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
- 235 Main Street, Tatamagouche
- It’s the perfect time to grab any of their delicious brews. Seasonally, we recommend trying the Cobequid Hills Spruce Tip Dark Ale or, if you want something really bold for the holiday, see if you can get your hands on their Tempest Barrel Aged Imperial Stout!
Sober Island Brewing Company
If you’re located on the Eastern Shore, Sober Island Brewing in Sheet Harbour has got you covered. They’re kicking things off early with an extra Trivia Night on Saturday, March 14th, to get everyone in the Irish spirit.
- $5 per person
- Starts at 7 p.m. on Saturday
- Lineup of St. Paddy’s themed questions, pictures, and audio
- Lots of popcorn!
On the actual big day, Tuesday, March 17th:
- Mel Harrigan will play Irish fiddle tunes.
- 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
- No cover charge
- 12oz bowl of Beef Stew and biscuits for $20
While you’re there, you have to try their Beth’s Black Oyster Stout. It’s made with real oysters from the shore and has that slightly salty, dark finish that feels exactly like a Nova Scotian version of a classic Irish stout.
Garrison Brewing Company
If you’re hosting a kitchen party or just want to make sure your fridge is ready, Garrison is running a great St. Paddy’s Deal from March 11th to 14th: grab a 24-pack of Tall Ship for just $40!
Interested? Order online or pickup at the Oxford Taproom. Plus, if you’re local to Halifax, they offer free delivery until 12 p.m. on the 14th.
If you’d rather be where the action is on the day of, head to their Oxford Taproom for some great deals! All day long, they’re doing $25 pitchers of Tall Ship and their Irish Red. Pick your favourite brew and enjoy while listening to live music from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Coldstream Clear Distillery
If you’re wanting to switch things up from pints, Coldstream Clear always has a flight for the occasion! Running until March 17th, they’ve put together a special St. Paddy’s Day themed flight that you can grab at all Coldstream locations. It includes:
- Leprechaun Fizz: Premium gin, lemon juice, pear nectar, vanilla syrup and club soda
- Irish Mint: Peppermint Pattie, white chocolate syrup, chocolate syrup, whip cream and milk
- Pot of Lager: Half NS lager and half lemonade
- Celtic Sunrise: Coconut liqueur, pineapple juice, orange juice and blue raspberry syrup

Lake City Cider
In Dartmouth, Lake City Cider has brought back their limited-edition Green Ginger cider just for St. Paddy’s. It’s made with fresh-pressed ginger root, and they use a touch of chlorophyll to give it that green glow. The perfect drink for hosting a party or just snapping a cute social media story!
It’s available now, so head in to their taproom on Portland street to try it on tap or pick up some cans. They will be open from 11 a.m. to 12 a.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Tuesday, pouring it fresh. Try it while you can because once it’s gone, it’s gone!
Still Fired Distilleries
Still Fired distilleries is one of the many great stops on the Annapolis Royal Pub crawl! Located in Lequille, they’re known for their hand-crafted small-batch spirits.
On Saturday March 14th, they’re offering a festive tasting of their Winter Wanderer, and you can even snag a free shot glass. Even if you’re not joining the crawl, they’re still a great place to grab a few products before you head to a party or event!
Kiju’s Restaurant
For those of you who call Cape Breton Island home, Kiju’s Restaurant in Membertou will have a special St. Patricks Day menu on Tuesday March 17th!
Join them from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. to try some of their Irish inspired dishes including Gaelic Boxty, Fried Toutons, Dublin Coddle, Guinness Lamb & Potato Stew, and more! While you’re there, treat yourself to one of their many local beers on tap.
