What’s Cooking: April 28-May 5

From new brews and businesses reopening, to dessert and wine tastings, there’s lots of culinary activities this week in Nova Scotia. Keep reading to see What’s Cooking in the province this week.

The Flying Apron Inn & Cookery

It’s dessert tasting week at the Flying Apron Inn & Cookery! Join them April 29 to May 1 to choose from a dozen or more house made decadent desserts. Their dining room hours this week are: Friday, April 29th 11-8 p.m., Saturday, April 30th 11-4 p.m., and Sunday, May 1st 11-4 p.m. Reservations are highly recommended for a meal and dessert tasting in the dining room. Just dessert tasting plates are available to enjoy in the coffee shop seating area as well without ordering a meal. Reservations can be made at 902-633-2300.

Open Brewery Day

Finish craft beer month by stopping your local community brewery for Open Brewery Day. On April 30th, various breweries across the province will be putting on events in celebration of Nova Scotia craft beer. Visit the Craft Brewers Association of Nova Scotia for all the details.

Trellis Cafe

The wait is finally over! The Trellis Cafe is reopening for the 2022 season on May 4. They are so excited to open their doors and welcome everyone back. Book your tables by calling and leaving a message at 902-857-1188.

Oak Island Resort

Garrison Brewing Co.

This brew was such a hit on HMCS Halifax that Garrison Brewing was able to brew it once again but this time, for the public! Ever Brave is now available for pre-order on their website and will be available in early May. 50 cents from each can will be donated to the Halifax & Region Military Family Resource Center to support the centre and the families of those on HMCS Halifax.

Glenora Inn & Distillery

  • May 13 – Rooms and chalets open (no meals available until June 3)
  • May 27- Distillery tours available
  • June 3-9th – Pub open for dinner (5 p.m. open)
  • June 10 – Pub open for lunch and dinner (11 a.m. open)
  • June 10 – Daily ceilidhs & entertainment begin for season: 1-3 p.m. and 5-9 p.m.
  • July 8 – Warehouse dining room opens for dinner 5-9 p.m.
