This week, enjoy fun-filled experiences from one tip of the province to the other. From a blueberry festival to wine-making, a craft beer cruise to floral arrangements, this week’s collection of What’s Cooking around the province is sure to be a crowd-pleaser.

August 13: Craft Beer Cruise

The Craft Beer Cruise is a fun, laid back tour that features some of the best Nova Scotia craft breweries and their latest creations. The tour includes highlights of the participating breweries, details of the brewing process and the tasting profiles you’ll discover in each beer. Your ticket includes a two-hour cruise on the Halifax Harbour along with samples of each unique beer. Tickets are $49. Presented by Ambassatours.

August 14: Lobster Supper Sociable

On Wednesday August 14, join Mateus Bistro in collaboration with Kitch’inn for a Seafood dinner with the freshest locally-sourced ingredients! August 16: Fridays with Fresia

August 16: Wines and Steins Tour

August 17 & 18: Wine Lab Adventure

August 17: Blueberry Festival

Pair your inner Bluenoser with Jost Vineyard‘s blueberry-inspired festivities! Enjoy wine tastings, live music on the patio with Joe Butcher, special festival menu featuring blueberry-inspired food from the Seagrape Café, wine sales and more. Admission is free.

August 18: Loving Awkward Stems

Treat yourself to a lovely day in Hants County that will delight your senses with garden tours, a delicious local brunch and a floral arranging workshop! Held at The Flying Apron Inn & Cookery, the day starts at 10 a.m. and tickets are $97 per person. For reservations, call The Flying Apron at 902-633-2300.

FEAST! A Cole Harbour Long Table Dinner (August 24): Held in the central Cole Harbour Heritage farmyard under the marquee tent, enjoy the delicious flavours of a Nova Scotia August against the backdrop of 200 years of farming heritage. This 4-course feast is sourced directly from the farm gardens and our farming partners. Included in the price of your meal is a drink ticket for a glass of local craft beer or cider (additional alcoholic beverages may be purchased). Non-alcoholic beverages plus tea and coffee included. Family Fun Day Fundraiser (August 25): Join Benjamin Bridge Winery for Family Fun Day, with the HFX Wanderers Football Club! Price is $15 per person, kids under 5 get in for free. They have a fundraising goal of $15,000 and 100% of ticket sales benefit the Valley Regional Hospital Foundation. Tickets.

A Writer’s Dinner at Sugar Moon (August 28): Join Artur Cisar-Erlach and hear about his three-year global journey to understand how trees can influence the taste of food… including maple of course! Held at Sugar Moon Farm, the event runs from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and tickets are $30. Reservations required.

Liscombe Hiking Adventure (September 7): In partnership with Hike Nova Scotia, Liscombe Lodge is proud to host “Hike-Eat-Stay” weekend getaway. Hike with them as they explore the Liscombe River Trail and cross the suspension bridge overlooking the waterfall and nearby fish ladder with guide Lori Taylor.

Avondale Garlic Festival (September 21): Mark your calendars for the 7th annual Avondale Garlic Fest, coming up on Saturday, September 21st! Celebrate Nova Scotia’s many garlic growers while enjoying live music, fine art, great food, cooking demos and more at Eastern Canada’s largest garlic festival, all happening on the picturesque Avondale Sky Winery grounds.
