What’s Cooking August 7 to 14?
This week will have you feeling at one with nature with a serene dinner by the seaside, relaxing yoga over-looking vineyards, and scrumptious pastries by the garden. Too hot to go outside? No problem! We have a trick to distract you from this heat-wave – surround yourself with ice cold craft beer and live music!
August is Blueberry Month at Taste of Nova Scotia and we are berry excited to share all of our awesome locally inspired recipes, experiences and ideas with you all month long!
August 10-11: Halifax Seaport Beerfest
If you love craft beer as much as we do then we have the perfect event lined up for you this weekend! The Halifax Seaport Beerfest is Atlantic Canada’s largest gathering of craft beer, imports and cider. The weekend will include live music, amazing food and it’ll be your only chance to sample over 300 unique beers and ciders!
Participating Members: Boxing Rock Brewing Company, Garrison Brewery, Saltbox Brewery , Wayfarers’ Ale and Bulwark Cider.

August 10-11: Trellis Café
The Trellis Café offers more than just amazing food, drinks and service—they have entertainment too! Throughout the month of August they will be hosting evenings filled with live music and delicious beverages. The shows start at 7 p.m. so make sure to get their early to can fill up on scrumptious meals like the cedar planked salmon with an orange ginger glaze sauce or the lobster linguine in a creamy paramarosa sauce (our mouths are salivating too). This weekend’s entertainment includes Glenda Pennell on August 10, and Trevor Pike on August 11.

August 12: The Argyler Lodge & Seaside Dining
If you’re near the Yarmouth & Acadian Shores area make sure to stop by the Argyler Lodge & Restaurant. They also offer an amazing dining experience that embraces Nova Scotia’s land and sea by making quality meals made with a variety of local ingredients.

August 12: Vino & Vinyasa
Join Planters Ridge for a relaxing Sunday morning with yoga in the vineyard and a tasting of their wines! The yoga session will be led by instructor Brittany Hachey of Yoga Room of Essence and it will be followed by an exclusive tour of their vineyards and winery.
August 12: Flowers, Food & Farm Tour
The Flying Apron Inn & Cookery is hosting a fun, flower-filled day with special guest Denise Stockdale of Barefoot Blooms. This day-long outing will include a floral centre piece workshop, ironwood farm tour AND delicious brunch and pastries made with local ingredients. You will be immersed in a sea of gorgeous blooms, enveloped by the smells of delicious food and surrounded by the beauty of the Hants Shore landscape all day long.

Jost Vineyards Blueberry Festival (August 18)—Pair your inner Bluenoser with our blueberry-inspired festivities! Enjoy wine tastings and live music by Rankin MacInnis
Feast! A Cole Harbour Long Table Dinner (August 25) — Cole Harbour Heritage Farm Museum is hosting a long table dinner featuring the delicious flavours of Nova Scotia summer.
Blueberry Festival (August 26) — Join Sainte-Famille Winery as they celebrate the the blueberry season.
Avondale Garlic Festival (September 16) — Join Avondale Sky Winery as they host the Garlic Festival. Great music and garlic-inspired food all on the beautiful grounds by the vineyards.
Chef Night With Wild Caraway (October 14)— Sugar Moon Farm will be hosting a chef night featuring Wild Caraway. The menu be created around what’s available in their gardens, the seashore and the forest at that time.
