What’s Cooking January 23 to 30?
We know you can EAT lobster – but do you know how to properly clean and cook one? Take a cooking class so you can create your own lobster lovers feast at home, check out Eagle Watch 2018 or taste Nova Scotia delicacies at Sip n’ Shuck this week!

January 25: Lobster Lovers Feast
Take a lobster cooking class at The Flying Apron so you can create your own lobster lovers feast at home this Valentine’s Day. After the demonstration, enjoy a tasting menu of: lobster rangoons with sweet chili sauce, butter poached lobster with roasted potatoes, winter cabbage slaw and cranberry pound cake with lemon curd.
January 25 & 28: Magnificent Mozart
Join Symphony Nova Scotia in their tribute to Mozart. Performances are at Rebecca Cohn Auditorium and Alderney Landing Theatre. After the show, grab dinner at local spots The Canteen, Seasons by Atlantica or Tempo Food and Drink.
January 26: Sip n’ Shuck
It’s here! Sip n’ Shuck returns again for another night of delectable oysters and Nova Scotia wine, beer, ciders and spirits. Make sure to get your tickets before they’re sold out!
January 27: Eagle Watch
Participate in the bird-watching event that draws in tons of North Americans each year. Get up-close to eagles wintering in Sheffield Mills, which is the biggest home of bald eagles in the winter season east of the rocky mountains. After the spectacular event, warm up with some dinner at nearby spots Crystany’s Brasserie or Paddy’s Brewpub and Rosie’s Restaurant.
January 28: Skating Party
The Fortress of Louisbourg is hosting a skating party with free hot chocolate on January 28th. Make it a weekend getaway and take your family to stay at Cape Breton resorts like: Cabot Links, or Chanterelle Inn and Cottages.
January 28: Guided Snowshoe Hike
Get outside in the fresh air on a guided snowshoe hike at Planters Ridge. Take a 30 minute walk or an hour and a half hike on the trails. Later, warm up in their tasting room with fine wines and small plates.
