What’s Cooking October 16 to 23?

As we sit in the thick of our harvest season there is no better time to gather with friends. This week is all about getting out with friends and family and attending events showcasing our local food and drink. From Devour! Food Film Fest, to cooking classes at The Flying Apron, there are plenty of opportunities to spend time having fun with those you love, and share in the delicious tastes of October.

October 16-1-25: Fall Harvest Dinner

Harbour City Bar and Grill’s culinary team presents a limited-time three-course menu for the month of October, celebrating autumnal flavours of Nova Scotia. With starters, entrees and dessert reflecting the theme of harvest in our province, go out for the evening and be enchanted by this delicious meal.

October 19: Chef Night at Sugar Moon Farm

Sugar Moon Farm will be hosting a chef night featuring the Wild Caraway Restaurant and Café. The menu will be created around what’s available in their gardens, the seashore and the forest at that time. Wild Caraway is the restaurant in Advocate Harbour that you’ve always wanted to visit. Here’s your chance!

October 19-20: Pears and Pairings

Sign up for the Flying Apron Inn and Cookery’s demo cooking class package. Delicious, local pears star in this amazing class menu. While chef Chris prepares the meal, you get to indulge in samples of Planters Ridge wine with each course.

October 20: Poutine Party at The Argyler Lodge

Head on over to the Argyler Restaurant this Saturday night for a poutine party. Try poutine, Nova Scotian style, with  lobster, local chicken or even on a burger and so much more. This is the perfect way to indulge your taste buds this weekend.

October 23-28: Devour! The Food Film Fest

Devour! The Food Film Fest is the world’s largest film festival dedicated to all things culinary. Start your week off  on Tuesday night with a special pre-festival celebration in Kentville, Sip and Savour. Come celebrate cinema, food and wine with us in ‘Canada’s Secret Foodie Destination’.
