This week is all about celebrating love – our love for local food and drink! Take your Valentine to a three-course meal during Dine Around, try a chocolate and wine tasting or take in all the deliciousness at the Winterful Waterfront Weekend.
Okay, we confess ― we have a pretty serious crush on Nova Scotia’s culinary community – and we’ve declared February as LOVE LOCAL month at Taste of Nova Scotia. We live in a province brimming with diverse food cultures, innovative producers and exceptional chefs. As you celebrate Valentine’s Day this month, make sure you spread some of that love to Nova Scotia’s culinary community!
February 2 to 19: South Shore Lobster Crawl
Nova Scotia’s first ever Lobster Crawl is on now until February 19. Taste 14 different lobster rolls, participate in lobster -related activities, meet Lucy the lob”star” and more! Try lobster rolls from Taste members White Point Beach Resort, Grand Banker, Kiwi Cafe, Mateus Bistro, Quarter Deck Beachside Villas and Grill, Oak Island Resort, Lane’s Privateer Inn and Capt. February 8: Decadence
Savour Food and Wine Festival is back again with Decadence. An evening of pure indulgence with delectable dishes and luscious desserts, paired with fine Nova Scotia wines.
February 9: Devour the Sea
The second annual Devour The Sea fundraiser is happening in support of Dartmouth North Community Food Centre. Join in on a night filled with fun dishes and wine pairings inspired by sea-faring films. Participating Taste chefs include: Renée Lavallée from The Canteen, Shane Robilliard from Fox Harb’r Resort and Stephanie Ogilvie from The Brooklyn Warehouse.
February 9: Stupid Cupid
Scanway Catering and Halifax Distilling Co. put together a Valentine’s celebration with an evening of rum! This event starts with a master distiller hosted rum tasting with chocolate followed by a four-course rum inspired menu.
February 9 to 11: Ultimate Valentine Weekend
Take advantage of the Valentine’s weekend special that Atlantica Oak Island is hosting. Two nights accommodation, cooking classes, yoga, a gourmet dinner, massage tips and more!
February 10 to 11: Winterful Waterfront Weekend
Winterful Waterfront Weekend will have fun for the whole family with activities and food at the Halifax Waterfront. Take part in winter yoga, snow painting, snowshoeing and more. Taste members Acadian Maple, Waterfront Warehouse, Sugah! and Morris East will be around cooking up some treats!
February 10: Chocolate & Wine
February 10: Discover Love
Discover Love at the Discovery Centre this Valentine’s Day. Their love-laced event will provide an evening under the stars in their Immersive Dome Theatre with a variety of special guest speakers. While there, sample delectable chocolate and exceptional Grand Pré wine.
February 10: Valentine’s Dinner
Head to Planters Ridge to celebrate Valentine’s Day this year. They are offering a special four-course menu accompanied by wine pairings with each course.
February 11: Valentine’s Brunch Buffet
Join The Flying Apron for their Valentine’s brunch buffet from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, February 11. Menu: Brisket and vegetable hash with feta, bacon and egg brioche cups, creamy red wine pork meatballs and more!
Now to March 15: Dine Around
Don’t forget to try out as many restaurants as you can while Savour Dine Around is on! Morris East is featuring a special $30 three-course menu. First course: choice of vinaigrette Caesar salad, cauliflower salad or prosciutto plate. Second course: choice of pizza from a large selection. Third course: choice of salted caramel tart, carrot cake or dark-roasted local coffee.
Savour Food & Wine Festival (Feb. 22) – Bringing together some of Nova Scotia’s talented mixologists, incredible brewers, award-winning winemakers as well as phenomenal chefs over a series of five incredible events.
Nova Scotia Ice Wine Festival (Feb. 24 to March 4) – The Nova Scotia Icewine Festival is the premier winter wine festival hosted in the heart of the Annapolis Valley.
Maplicious (March 17) – We’ve tapped into our roots and are pleased to celebrate the sweet liquid gold at Maplicious on March 17th at the Wolfville Farmers’ Market.
Devour! Fox Harb’r Weekend Getaway (May 18 to 20) – Fox Harb’r Resort is delighted to host once again the Nova Scotia created food & film festival, a celebration of culinary and cinema, with an added splash of comedy. Hosted by CBC personality, stand-up comic, actor and chef Ali Hassan.
