What’s Cooking July 17 to July 24?

This week has us outside taking in Nova Scotia’s land and sea by enjoying some outdoor gourmet picnic-ing, becoming a sous chef by the ocean, and indulging in an epic Nova Scotian seafood feast. Also, if you’ve got a love for lobster (like we do) then we’ve got just the dinner spot for you!

And don’t forget to grab your lobster bibs and passports because here at Taste of Nova Scotia, July is dedicated to our world-famous lobster! All month we’ll be indulging in delicious lobster dishes and interactive experiences. We can’t wait to share our lobster love with you!

July 21: Savour The Seaside

Kejimkujik National Park is celebrating their 30th anniversary with Nova Scotia’s renowned Kilted Chef, Alain Bossé. The day is packed with unique culinary experiences including an Acadian seafood boil workshop with Green Crabs, AND interactive dining on the beach where you can become the sous chef! To top it off there will be sampling of some awesome local cider, beer and wine including, Bulwark Cider, Boxing Rock and Petite Rivière Vineyards

July: Summer Lobster Supper

Get your bibs ready for the deal of the summer! Delta Halifax’s Harbour City Bar & Grill and Tempo Food + Drink is providing us with Summer Lobster Suppers. 1 1/4 lbs fresh Atlantic Lobster, warm drawn butter, house made coleslaw and corn on the cob for $29. What gets better than that? Oh yeah! You can add mussels, Acadian seafood chowder AND dessert of the day for an additional $15. Don’t be shellfish, tell your friends!

July 21: Blomidon Estate Gourmet Picnic

Blomidon Estate Winery has partnered up with Chef David Smart of Bessie North House to create a gourmet picnic for all of you! Collect your picnic goodies from the winery and head down the farm road to the heart of the vineyard and enjoy your gourmet picnic. Views of the vines overlooking the Minas Basin, the perfect atmosphere for a lovely day in Nova Scotia Wine Country.

July 22: Epic East Coast Feast

This Epic East Coast Feast definitely holds true to its name because, it. is. epic. The evening takes place at the Argyler Lodge and Restaurant‘s open air verandah  and ocean view dining room where there will be an assortment of freshly fished mussels, clams, scallops, lobster and seafood chowder! Not to mention, there will be lots of local wines including the Benjamin Bridge Nova7 and an assortment of Tidal Bay. After dessert, enjoy some good cheer sitting around the outdoor fire pit with friends.

Collaborative Dinner Series (July 26) — Chef David Woodley will be at The Watch That Ends The Night for a night filled with Thailand inspired drinking food.

Nature Night (July 27) — Learn about constellations, the solar system and celebrate the full moon with Sugar Moon Farm.

Hops & Chops Festival (July 27-28)—  Mateus Bistro brings together local bands for two wonderful nights of music, food, and beer for the hops & Chops Festival

Summer Kitchen Parties (August 4)— Join The Old Fish Factory for an evening of local craft beer and great food!

Food Day Canada (August 4)— Get ready for Canada’s Local Food Day! This annual virtual gathering features chefs and home cooks  honouring our farmers and fishers by serving forth local ingredients.

Nova Scotia Summer the Traditional Cantonese Banquet Menu (August 7)— The Orient Chinese Cuisine is changing up their menu for the evening and taking on a traditional Cantonese feast.

Flowers, Food & Farm Tour (August 12)— The Flying Apron Inn & Cookery is hosting a fun flower filled day with special guest Denise Stockdale!

Flavours, Tuscan Addition (August 18)Planters Ridge Winery is hosting a unique dining experience overlooking the vineyards featuring Tuscany inspired flavours.

Avondale Garlic Festival (September 16) — Join Avondale Sky Winery as they host the Garlic Festival. Great music and garlic inspired food all on the beautiful grounds by the vineyards.
