Halifax Burger Week
It’s Burger Time! Taste of Nova Scotia restaurants are cooking up some serious burger masterpieces for The Coast’s Burger Week from March 22 to 28. Your challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to eat your way around Halifax and share your favourite local burger pics with us.
THE BENGAL BURGER. Hand-ground PEI beef, masala glaze, “kachumber” slaw, mango raita and spiced pappadum, on a sesame bun. $6.
Also available: THE ORIGINAL 2DD OLD SCHOOL CHEESEBURGER SLIDER. The name says it all. This is the classic worthy of all your burger cravings. $6.
THE JUGHEAD. Smashed Nova Scotia beef, strip bacon and cheese. $6.
COOL RANCH BURGER. Nova Scotia pork burger, cured tomato aioli, bacon, crispy onions and toasted goat cheese and dill agrodolce. $14.
THE “ST. REGIS” PARIS BISTRO BACON CHEESEBURGER. Hand-ground beef topped with aged cheddar, Nova Scotia maple-smoked bacon and bistro burger sauce, served on brioche bun with “loaded” stuffed potato skin and winter slaw. $20.
GAELIC STEAK BURGER. Nova Scotia ground beef, double-smoked bacon, whiskey peppercorn sauce, fried onions and mushrooms, shoestring potatoes, horseradish grainy mustard aioli, on sesame seed bun served with hand-cut fries. $16.
THE GIO BURGER. Kalbi with braised beef, Korean BBQ sauce, pear, kimchi, arugula and scallion aioli, with calamari fritte. $12.
FRIED SPAGHETTI + GARLIC BREAD BURGER. Italian meatball patty in a fried spaghetti nest, with marinara sauce and pesto mayo, on a garlic bread bun. Your choice of side. $12.
SWISS MUSHROOM MELT. Heartwood’s Swiss Mushroom Melt – traditional bean burger patty served with lettuce, tomato & sprouts on a whole grain bun. Topped with grilled mushrooms & onions. Your choice of regular or vegan cheese. $6.
SURF ‘N’ TURF SLIDERS. Cold-water shrimp patty topped with chorizo espresso jam and charred-lime aioli. $6.
SIX MEAT UNDER. 6-oz patty, bacon jam, smoked gouda, onion crisps, lettuce, tomato and Sriracha aioli, served with frites. $16.
MACARON BURGERS. Bacon, maple, apple and butter make up this unique flavour experience. Sold in packs of three. $7.
THE BLACK WIDOW. Wild Boar, Smoked Bacon Black Bun, Crispy Onion Ring Red Cabbage Gochubang Slaw Chimilantro, Black Stout Beernaise. $13.
PRESS GANG ROO BURGER. Hard cider bun, kangaroo with chimichurri, foie gras butter, curried caramelized onions, triple cream brie, arugula and fries. $25.
HEY MAMBO ITALIANO! BURGER. 6-oz house-made burger with arugula aioli, bruschetta and Parmesan crisp, on an egg kaiser, capped with a provolone arancini. $7.
THE SLOPPY JOE MCGUINNESS BURGER. Pulled beef, stout beef jus, shredded cabbage, house pickles, Dijon aioli, roasted mushrooms and melted gouda. Served with house-cut fries. $18.
JALAPEÑO GRILLED CHEESE BACON BURGER. Sourdough grilled-cheese bun with smoked cheddar, Oulton’s beef patty, Montreal smoked bacon, frizzled jalapeños, jalapeño salsa, chipotle aioli and jalapeño popper topper. Your choice of side. $14.
