What’s Cooking?: March 9th – 15th

Enjoy culinary inspired events across the province this week. From St. Patrick’s Day activities to snowshoeing through the vines and a tea party – you’ll find events in every corner of the province.

March 14th: Everyone is Irish Dance Party!

Head to the Boxing Rock taproom to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day a little early. Bring friends or meet new ones on the dance floor. DJ Mel & Alex with HarbourTone Productions will be waiting for you! Event will take place 8 p.m. – 12 a.m. with a $5 cover charge. And yes, there will be green beer.

March 14th: Fort View’s Brew Social

Head to the Annapolis Valley this weekend for a brand-new craft beer festival! Get to know local brewers at Fort View’s Brew Social, brought to you in collaboration with Founders House Dining & Drinks.  Price per person: $42 plus tax. Includes: 10 drink tokens, 4oz specialized beer glass, with tokens available for purchase.

Members Participating: Schoolhouse Brewery,  Saltbox BreweryWayfarers’ Ale Society, and Still Fired Distilleries Inc.

March 14th: Snowshoeing Through the Vines

This weekend at Planters Ridge, spend an afternoon enjoying the fresh air, as you take in the winery’s scenic views. The Municipality of the County of Kings will provide snowshoes at the winery for the public to enjoy for free. After working up an appetite, relax by the glow of the fire with a cheeseboard and glass of wine.

March 15th: BYOBB – Bring Your Own Baby to our Bar

Chain Yard Cider welcomes you to bring your baby, kids and families to their taproom on Sunday March 15th, 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. Parents can enjoy lunch/brunch, cider, beer & wine. Kids can enjoy movie with headphones, a special kid-friendly menu, colouring packs and prizes from Nurtured Products for Parenting.

March 15th: March Hare Tea Party

Adventure down the rabbit hole to Wonderland for a March Hare high tea party at The Biscuit Eater Cafe. Channel your inner Mad Hatter or Queen of Hearts and wear your most ridiculous outfits while eating delectable delights. Along with the high tea menu they will have a limited brunch menu. Tickets are limited. RSVP at the cafe or online.

March 15th: 6th Annual Maple Brunch Buffet

It’s maple season in Nova Scotia! Celebrate at The Flying Apron with their maple brunch buffet! Join them Sunday, March 15th from 10 a.m. –  3 p.m. for a delicious, maple-inspired brunch.  Reservations required. Call to book your table 902-633-2300.

March 15th: Sunday Dinner at Rebecca’s

Kitchen Door Cooking classes: With classes on everything from tacos to vegetarian dishes, there’s lots to choose from this month at Kitchen Door. They also featuring several different styles of cooking class, that allow you to make and take, or eat your creations on site.

Craft Beer Festival (March 21st): Join breweries from across the province as they celebrate the Nova Scotia Craft Beer Festival. You won’t find more Nova Scotia craft breweries under one roof. Regular ticket price includes access to the event, 12 – 4 oz beer samples, and a take-home glass. VIP ticket includes 1 hour earlier access to the event, 16 – 4 oz beer samples, and a special take-home glass. Halifax Burger Week (March 26th – April 1st): Halifax Burger Week is a city-wide burger-eating phenomenon and fundraiser for Feed Nova Scotia put on by The Coast. Burger offerings either have a set price of $6, or a higher price with the restaurant making a donation to Feed Nova Scotia from every burger sold.
