What’s Cooking: September 2 – 9

Fall may be on its way, but we don’t have to say goodbye to summer yet! If you’re looking to savour the last few weeks of the season, check out what’s cooking this week across the province. From new products to musical performances, we’ve highlighted adventures and promotions you’ll want to take advantage of!

Petite Riviere Vineyards

Join Petite Riviere Vineyards Thursday, September 2nd from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. for live music! Jim Henman featuring JP Ellis, will be performing at the vineyard. Tickets range from $15 – $20 and can be purchased on their website.

Garrison Brewing Company

Not ready let go of summer yet? Garrison Brewing Company isn’t either! Join them on Saturday September 4th and Sunday September 5th from 10 a.m. – 10 p.m. for their Cheers to Summer event! Seaport Social will be cooking up some goodies on Saturday and there will be an extended patio. Make sure to stop by and say hello!

Pop-Up Garlic Market at Avondale Sky Winery

Avondale Sky is excited to welcome back local garlic growers to the winery. Starting this weekend, and running every weekend during September, they will be hosting local garlic growers. This Saturday and Sunday vendors will be on site from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. or until they sell out.

Hop Harvesting at Meander River

This Sunday, September 5th, Meander River Farm & Brewery will be harvesting hops for their annual Homegrown Wet Hopped Ale! Get your hands sticky with hop oils while picking, enjoying a fresh brew, and chatting with other pickers. They will begin at 9 a.m.

Tapas & Trails – Art & Culinary Adventures

Engage with nature and celebrate Nova Scotian arts and culture at the first annual Tapas & Trails on September 18th. The event takes place along the scenic Keppoch Mountain hiking trails and will feature local art and culinary experiences along the way. Experience tasty local gourmet tapas and local beverages from Avondale Sky Winery, Steinhart Distillery, Sober Island Brewing Co., and Coldstream Clear Distillery. Tickets are $95/person.

Java Blend Coffee: Introducing Kenya Murang’a Peaberry from Java Blend Coffee. Peaberries occur when the coffee cherry has only one seed inside rather than the usual two. At the Gondo Factory, operated by the New Kiriti Farmers Cooperative Society in central Kenya, they are meticulously sorted to produce this intensely sweet and jammy coffee. This medium roast coffee has notes of blackberry, caramel and lime – enjoy!
