May 2: Slow Food Nova Scotia’s annual Spring Supper is back for its sixth year and it promises to be a great time. Indulge in oysters from Sober Island Oysters Ltd. and Bay Enterprises Ltd., and enjoy the culinary talents of chefs from Brooklyn Warehouse, Chives Canadian Bistro, 2 Doors Down, The Flying Apron Inn & Cookery and Wild Caraway Restaurant & Café. Tickets are $120 for the general public ($90 for Slow Food NS members) and are available at all TicketPro outlets.
May 3: Food and music team up for a memorable time. Head to Chanterelle Country Inn to enjoy dinner, followed by a concert from Old Man Luedecke and Tom Terrell. Dinner starts at 6 p.m. and the concert kicks off at 7:30 p.m. The cost for both the concert and dinner is $50 plus tax. Call (902) 277-0577 to make a reservation.
May 3: Join us as things heat up in The Hatfield House Culinary Experiences and Restaurant kitchen. Come prepared, as chef Sebastien Milot may ask you to assist. A menu of New Orleans Cajun fare featuring crab cakes topped with creole aioli, sausage, shrimp and tomato Jambalaya, as well as classic pecan pie. The cost is $52 per person plus tax.
May 8: Nova Scotia’s first ever Craft Beer Week kicks off May 8 and to celebrate, Symphony NS will be hosting their Beer & Beethoven fundraiser at the Forum. Enjoy the taste of local craft brewers like Garrison Brewing, Propeller Brewing Company and Rare Bird Craft Beer. Doors open at 7 p.m. and tickets are $40 plus tax.
May 9: After a long winter, head outside and reacquaint yourself with the city. I Love Local Halifax’s Open City event is May 9 and many businesses will be offering great deals. Be sure to swing by places like Field Guide, Just Us!, McKelvie’s Restaurant, Morris East, Scanway Baskery & Café, Sugah! and The Canteen to help welcome back spring.
May 10: This Mother’s Day, show a little appreciation for Mom. Why not treat her to a delicious brunch? Our recommendation: A three-course brunch paired with wine from Planters Ridge Winery. It’s $50 plus tax per guest and starts at 11:30 a.m.
