Spring is in full bloom as we’re nearing the end of the month! This week’s What’s Cooking has dinner plan ideas, as well as new products and openings you can enjoy to savour the last few days of April.
The Whiskey Teller

Founders House Dining
Founders House will be hosting a WSET (Wine & Spirit Education Trust) Level One event on April 27. You will have the opportunity to increase your wine knowledge by tasting 10 styles of wines and experiment with food and wine pairings. This course is open to the public and can register here.
Grand Pré Wines
Grand Pré Wines is officially open for the season! Join them at their wine shop Wednesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. till 5 p.m. to try their 2021 vintage Tidal Bay or one of their other delicious wines!
Hop Scotch Dinner Club
April 30th is the last night to try out Hop Scotch Dinner Clubs‘s Wednesday Night Tasting menu! This tasting menu includes an $85 seven-course chef’s choice and $35 wine pairings.
Java Blend Coffee
Java Blend introduces their first electric-roasted coffee: Brewtiful Future. This months’ Community Cups coffee is extra special since it’s the first Java Blend coffee to be roasted in their fully electric Stronghold S9x. Plus, the beans were sourced through the Todos al Agua Program- an RGC 3E Sustainability Program that supports farmers in water conservation and climate change resilience.
$1 from every bag sold will be donated to the Clean Foundation.
Burger Wars
There’s still time to take in the Annapolis Valley Burger Wars! During the month of April, burger lovers can visit as many of the featured restaurants as possible to vote for their favourite burger! For every featured burger sold at one of the participating restaurants, $1 will be donated to Campaign for Kids to help raise funds for financially disadvantaged children in Kings County.
Participating Taste of Nova Scotia members include: the Union Street, Crystany’s Brasserie, Maritime Express Cider Co., Paddy’s Irish Brewpub & Rosie’s Restaurant (Wolfville & Kentville), Cumin Kitchen and Drink, Kellock’s Restaurant, Church Brewing Co., Winegrunt Wine Bar, and the Whiskey Teller.
Craft Beer Month

Halifax Burger Bash
The Coast’s Halifax Burger Bash is back! From April 28 till May 7, you will be able to try out 130 burgers to try over the course of 10 days.
Participating Taste members include 2 Doors Down, Lot Six Bar and Restaurant, Unchained Kitchen (Chain Yard Urban Cidery,) The Press Gang Restaurant and Oyster Bar, The Sou’Wester Gift & Restaurant, Evan’s Seafood and The Carleton.
South Shore Fish Shack
The South Shore Fish Shack is reopening for the season on Friday, April 29th and they can’t wait to SEA you! Mark your calendars!
